Wow! those would have to be pretty bullet proof before I would attempt to land my P3 on water. It would seem the P3 would be awfully top-heavy for something like that.
They are misguided concepts.
Note the vendors haven't tried them and don't even list the weight.
You'd have a tough time flying with those things if you could takeoff at all.
Rather than enhancing your flight safety they are more likely to be detrimental.
Fly the Phantom the way it was designed and it will fly a lot better.
And that's beside getting in your camera view all the time.
What's funny is, the second link's product is $134, and at the very bottom, it says the price is for just one side - so you need two of them to float ... $268. Ugh ...
Why absurd?
A friend of mine actually bought a set of these direct from their website (they're only $40) and they work exactly as advertised. Battery issue caused his P3P to go into auto land over a lake. onlt thing that got wet was the compass at the bottom of the leg and that still worked. Saved the day.
And how much did they affect flight performance?
I'm interested but the seller won't answer that.
Can your friend say what top speed they can get in still air with those strapped on?
"Note: To make the FM1 water proof a coating of enamel (not supplied) is required to be sprayed over its structure. This is a concept 'beta' design and at this stage unproven. If you purchase this product we cannot guarantee that it will float or perform as advertised. We will continue to develop this product in the future."
Now that's some funny stuff. You have to waterproof them yourself and they're not guaranteed.
