I started with a Phantom 2 & H3-2D kit which worked fine. The H3-2D was damaged in an accident and I decided to replace with a 3D. The new unit does not seem to fit my Phantom which has a rectangular cut-out in the body in the middle of where the gimbal should sit, whilst the Phantom in the installation video has a larger circular cut-out. The extra rotation unit on the bottom of the gimbal needs the circular cut out otherwise it sits against the body of the Phantom - see photos.
Your Zenmuse H3-3D will not fit that body shell. However you could get a mounting adabter "DJI PART 10 H3-3D MOUNTING ADAPTER FOR PHANTOM 2 (OLD) [DJI-ZH3MP2]"
You could't also get this product, I think it's available from Shapeways.
one more thing, if you lower the gimbal with a mounting adabter, the gimbal/camera will be on the floor. Landing might damage it or the camera, unless you use a taller landing skid.
