Flew the advanced out to 2.36 miles today in a 26mph wind.  When it landed at the home point it had 21% battery life left.  I was a little concerned because it was mostly head wind with speed reduced at times to about 6 mph.  I was glad to get it back,  because the terrain it was covering is rugged and then some.  I don't know if I would have been able to get over to it.  I had good control signal all the way,  with the video starting to drop out a few times at max distance.  This was a totally stock flight,  no nearby interference and well above any terrain.  My curiosity is now satisfied.  It was amazing.  But I am wondering about the guys claiming 5 and 6 mile flights.  They must be one way with someone to retrieve it at the far end.

Hi Kneepuck, did you get the message 'Signal Weak' on the RC when you flew over than 1 mile? If not, how far untill you get that message?

I was able to get right at 2 miles today with P3A before losing video. About 400ft up ;-)  it started losing signal when I moved further away but would reconnect when hovering.  Out in middle of oil leases without a lot of interference.

Aloha Kneepuck,

Wow, this was a good one!  Better than I ever done.  Maybe you can get some wildlife shots now.

I once took two miles to get out a mile away when I got nervous and blitzed back.  I was surprised to have 30 percent battery when it arrived.  These things can go!

Aloha and Drone On!

I never got a weak signal.  The r/c signal score was 84 percent and could have gone further.  I was using the Litchi app though  not the Dji-Go.

Make sure next time to fly upwind so your return home trip will guarantee to not get stuck in a headwind coming home.

I don't know why you video didn't come back until the end of your flight. As soon as you got a little closer then you should have seen video.
As far as losing video at 1.5km, don't know why. In a perfectly interference area you should get a lot more.

Funny you should mention that.  On close inspection of my last flight,  I noticed I accidently captured a native girl and her 3 pet wolves.

Well,  really my girlfriend and our dogs,  but close enough.

Hi DJI-Ken, I have P3A and can not fly more than 2000ft because the signal will be lost. Do you know why that's happen? The P3A has firmware 1.4, I don't want to risk to update firmware 1.6.

I think it depends where you are. I have flown in urban and rural areas in north and south texas and get way different ranges depending on where I fly.  FRon 2000ft to 11500 ft so far

Last Sunday, I flew along the coast, there is no high obstacle like tree or building, but the longest distance I could fly was 3611ft, then the signal was lost, RTH was activated. My RC's antenna was parallel and it's body pointed to the camera. Here is the flight's information: http://healthydrones.com/main?sh ... NERALNotifications. Could anyone help me troubleshooting it? Thanks.

You say r/c antenna was pointing.  Does that mean you only have 1 antenna?  If that is the case,  you have a Standard,  and that is actually pretty good for a standard.  You could investigate a windsurfer antenna booster for some extra distance.

Maybe you could try a different channel.  Take the channel selection out of auto mode and try another until you get a better signal.  I was flying in the mountains.  There is no interference at all here.  Here is my flight log.  Over 12000 feet.

You made me cry . I'll do some flights to test the range. If it doesn't reach 10,000ft, I'll call after sale support of dji.

DJI Go has the nice yellow lines you can use to follow and return back home. How do you navigate back home with Litchi?

I just use the radar pointer, my ears and my eyes.  Also,  I fly with goggles so it is easier to tell where I am because I know the terrain around here pretty well.
