Hi all, I and the other regular supporters here answer the same queries every day regarding this issue.. Guys, when doing an upgrade from the software you must download and  then run to install the win drivers first. The instructions are in the manual page 45.
This must be done with the phantom connected as it dumps code onto your phantom. If you don't do this you will not get the two lights in the bottom left hand corner of the opening page of the vision assistant screen flashing. This means you are not connected to the software yet.

Also, if your motors won't start check these things:
1. Are in mode 1 or 2?- Mode 2 is the norm for starting motors with the left stick.
2. Is the light on your controller a yellowish rather than bright green?  If so your controller has become delinked from the phantom. The relinking procedure is very simple and takes about 5 seconds (ref page 19 of the manual.)  Be aware that the button referred to on the bottom of the phantom is also the LED and needs a blunt object to push it in. ( this is not clear in the manual.) it is not the button on the gimbal mount.  These solutions should really be made a sticky I reckon.
