I know this has been talked about in other threads but several people said different answers and they weren't all clear about it exactly. So I apologize if this is repetitive for some.

I need to know exactly what I have to have to make the Olympus M. Zuiko 14-42mm lens work properly on the Inspire 1 Pro. Thanks in advance and please do not guess or assume I would like to know from people who actually have this setup and it works properly and balanced or DJI staff. Of course anybody can answer here but I really don't want to make a costly mistake so please make sure to let me know if you do or don't have this setup. Thanks.

There's a balancing ring specifically for the 14-42mm, we're still waiting for ours so don't expect fast shipping from DJI. We have flown out 14-42mm now on 3-4 occasions without the balancing ring with no problems whatsoever.

&aposroperly' is very relative Don't expect good focus while filming and zooming in/out. The lens stays extended after you turn the inspire off. Quality is not that good compared to the prime lens options but considering the price and being able to zoom I think it's a great option.

You don't need anything. Mine worked right off-the-box, boom! However, if you're a perfectionist you may invest in ND8 and polarizing filter set (see accessory tab on http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr ... _5_5_6_ez_lens.html), which will nicely substitute for balancing ring. Anyway, the 14-42 "pancake" lens (the only zoom lens officially compatible with X5 camera) doesn't deliver a nice, smooth "live" zoom when controlled via slider on DJI GO app. It's shaky and somehow jittery. This issue need to be addressed in future firmware updates. Finally, I've found Olympus M.Zuiko 45mm prime lens far superior in many aspects, but the difference may be noticeable only by well trained eye. Unfortunately affordable consumer level zoom lenses suffer image distortions and compromised sharpness. Again, the "pancake" lens may be all you'll ever need ...

I have been waiting for the balancing ring since ordering on 01/08/2016. Without that 28g balance ring, the X5 motor will work harder to keep level. I wouldn't use my lens till the ring comes in. Just saying.

Thank you all this has helped. I think I'll be picking up a 45mm as well as the zoom lens will be for scouting or investigating areas of interest.

Hello! On the DJI website it now says "Photography Only" next to the 14-42 lens. I feel like I've seen people do video with it...Have you had success?

Do you know why the 45mm is listed as "photography only" on the DJI site? Plenty of people shoot video and I don't understand why the don't just say that it works with video as well.

That video above is for the 45mm lens. All I needed to balance that was a uv filter. The 14-42 zoom is another story. See how I balanced mine at: http://forum.dji.com/thread-46204-1-1.html
