I watch the video to install the 2.4 datalink kit but it's not to a phantom 2 unit, does anyone have a video on how to install this kit to a Phantom 2 or basic step by step instructions

Since no one replied , no you don't need the ios mini for the data link to work.

I've read the Use Guide and watched the video, but does anyone have a suggestion on physically mounting the air-side datalink to a Phantom 2 with H3-3D gimbal and controller? I'm looking at the space available and wondering whether to take the upper bodyshell off to mount the device internally...

Will that be OK?

Thanks

Thanks Guy

Underneath is the H3-3D and the anti-interference board that came with it. I moved stuff around and have fitted the datalink with velcro, seems OK at the moment although comms wasn't good on our first flight.

As per page two of the user guide, I have the 'top' antenna horizontal and the lower one vertically down. Is that right? It may be that we were too close to the vertical base unit antenna.

Likewise, no FPV.

Cheers
Jon

Can someone clarify the antenna directions?  I've read in several other places that the antenna (2 wires on the 2.4G Data Link, p/no. LK24-BT) are supposed to point in opposite directions; the only instructions I've seen telling you to point down are for single wire versions (older?).
To respond to earlier posts, I've taken my air-end out of it's case (to save weight) and clad it in heatshrink tube; it now fits side on in the case at the other end of the battery (Phantom 2), below board level so to speak. I've also de-cased my IOSmini the same way, just cutting the necessary access in the tube.

I've seen others who have done the same thing with the antennae.  90 degree out the back arms through the vent holes.  It seems to work fine and with them on the back gives better range if the rear is facing you.

If you have an FPV system you don't need an iApple device if you have a laptop or Win 8.1 tablet.  I wish they had a "GO" button on the Phantom so you wouldn't need any thing once you set it up on the PC inside the house.  If for some reason it has a problem it should return to home anyway.  Using the FPV transmitter does give you weight issues though which means shorter flight times and more wear and tear on the esc's and motors.  With all options installed you would most likely be over the DJI's recommended weight of 1300 grams.
