Hey out there.

I need a little help, im flyving around in Copenhagen, with my phantom 3 advanced and can only fly about 1km in a direct line, does anyone have some tips or is also not getting more range then im am... i trying to reach my brother who lives 1,88km from my home, i have seen ppl on youtube getting about 4-5km range on the phantom 3.
im not flyving between tall buildings or like that Copenhagen does only have 4 floors building in the city as maxium but you anyone out there have the same problems as me then im not worrying, write your thoughs

I find I get much worse range in the city. Go to the connection tab in settings and see your signal strength. it will look tell you if there is strong interpherance

as i reach 1km in range i get strong interphercen... and the RTH kicks in.. but it as to be possible to fly longer, exspecialy in copenhagen with no skyskrabers..

I have make 4,5km p3p in one way ,and 3,5 on onother way to centar of the city !

How are you controlling it, by looking at the map, with FPV, or with pre-programmed waypoints?

i have only tried FPV and getting flicker on the screen at 1km and lost RC signal at 1,1km.. #firetox13 are you using any helpers, meaning modifications?

i heard that a windsurf for the antenna helps a lot  you can try tro do some at home and try it , if you dont get the range that you want you can get a DBS antenna
i get 2km with the phantom 3 standard and that modification that was in the city , i didnt try open areas yet

no cable or samthing alse becous you will lous yours dron ,and  RTH must be biger than bigest bilding

I know , with lightbridge in USA and FCC mode you  can get 2 km with no issues at all , am taking about the standard with ce mode and the Dbs antenna I can't imagine what range you can get with lightbridge  FCC mode and the Dbs

No matter what mods you use,  if you do not have a clear line of sight to the drone you will have signal problems.  Radio waves in this frequency at long range are not very good at penetrating objects.  Buildings,  trees,  even people can interfere with the signal.  Pine trees, in particular,  with the needles are very bad interference for radio signal.  If possible,  fly at a higher altitude for a better signal.

And to add to that, range is not just about signal strength, it is also about signal quality. In a city there are thousands of devices all transmitting on the same frequency band as the aircraft, this is the same band used for WiFi, so any home with WiFi is competing with you for signal space.
