And here I was about to pull the trigger on ordering a DJI OSMO.... Thank god I came and read the forums first!....

If updating the firmware and all other troubleshooting methods have been exhausted and your Osmo is still not functioning correctly, then yes you should send it in for repair.

I have to auto calibrate my gimbal every time I power my Osmo up, is this normal?  It's kind of a PIA.

No you should not have to. You can email support to see if there's any more solutions or send it in to be looked out.

Ken, can you confirm that what you are implying is ,that there will not be a software/firmware fix for all of us with this problem?  so all our units are faulty? Straight answer would be appreciated.

Yes this is a big PIA! Dji say that gimble calibration is a must every time you start the Osmo and after sleep mode etc, they did fix most of the gimble issues in the last update but not all as we know!
