If you've sent your Phantom 3 in for Warranty service, did you find your Firmware updated even though you may not have wanted an update or does DJI leave whatever FW is on it as is ?

I'm going to assume part of their doctoring is making sure the firmware is up to date.

I am pretty sure if your phantom goes in for service it will be updated to the latest firmware.  More than likely will say had to update it to make sure it was working.

I agree.
They probably put it on there without asking.
Who knows what else they could be putting on there as well?

From other posts in other forums it gets the latest updates. I'm guessing that's part of the repair service in case older firmware caused a problem to start with.

Yeah- normally a complete non-issue

Firmware normally gets better as the numbers get bigger.  Service is automatically going to bring you up to date.  A no-brainer.

DJI's loyalty is not with the consumer, I believe it is with the FAA

I think the FAA is in charge of firmware direction.  This seems to be the reason for their complacency.  Registration - give me a break....  I'll bet they are working toward FLY-ZONES only eventually :-)

The FAA wouldn't know or care about what firmware version a Phantom is operating with.
If they did, wouldn't you think they might say something about it somewhere?

The reason DJI update firmware is unrelated to the US FAA.

So you think DJI created all the no fly zone stuff for the fun of it? The FAA has nothing to do with versions but they have a heck of a lot to do with what goes into it.

I recently received mine back from Dji after service in which they stated all they changed out was a damaged USB port.  I sent it in with 1.6 installed. When I checked it after getting back it was such an old version that I had to do several upgrades to get it back to 1.6. So not sure what they really did to my unit.  I was suffering from the frequently mentioned no one has a solution problem with no live video after 1.6 upgrade syndrome...lol...

Frail grasp of the big picture?
The FAA cares not what version firmware you have in your Phantom.

Ha, the rules of the forum forbid me from telling you exactly who lives out in those places, but if I did, it would explain why they got that reputation.
