I leave the IOC function permanently on so when I need it I can just go straight to F mode without the hassle of navigating through the app menus to switch it on. Does anybody else do this and could it potentially be a problem?

Don't see any gain doing this : you still have to choose the IOS mode (waypoint, poi, ...)
Do you let your car running 24/7 to avoid to start the engine each time ?

When I select F mode the waypoint, poi etc all immediately come up. So as I said, I don't have to go into the menus to find and select IOC.

"Don't see any gain doing this"

I don't see any problem doing this. Does it use more power or something simply being enabled in the app? It's nice to just switch the mode on the RC without having to get into the app. If I don't switch the mode, it shouldn't matter.

I leave it on and I'm annoyed when I find that an upgrade to firmware or the Go app turns it off.

Yeah I agree. But I'm sure somebody will eventually tell me there's a particular reason why it should not be left in this mode. I have familiarised myself with the menus but sometimes when I'm out flying and looking for a particular function, eg to turn the red leds back on, I give up because I cannot find it!!! So leaving IOC always on is convenient and definetely saves time!!!

Read the manu...oh, there isn't one :-D

I leave it on.  There's no reason not to as far as I can tell.  I can't even see a reason to have the switch at all, other than to increase complexity & confusion.

So IOC needs to be enabled for Course Lock etc. to work?

I guess IOC being on shouldn't affect P or A mode?

Sorry to be contrary, but the Advanced manual keeps saying "Refer to the IOC section in the Appendix of the User Manual."  Then the Appendix says nothing about it.  The Appendix does have an "Intelligent Flight Mode" section but no mention of IOC, Intelligent Orientation Control or what the IOC on/off setting does.

Fine then, what does "On" mean?

"IOC" != "Intelligent Flight Control."  You can ASSUME that, but when you assume you make an ass out of you and me.  The manual is incorrect/incomplete and you being rude about it doesn't change that.

I worded the original post incorrectly, I actually meant 'Intelligent Flight Mode' but I posted with 'IOC'. I have now changed the title of the post, (didn't think it would allow me to do that but it did so I did!).
