Just received my DJI Phantom 3 4K and I love it. I started shopping for batteries and notice that there are several different manufacturers offering batteries. With a wide gap in their prices Im wondering who has had experience with a non DJI brand batteries and are they worth it. I would appreciate your input. Thanks.

If you're referring to DJI's batteries..... they are the only batteries that will not void you're warranty.  
Most folks here tend to think that saving $10.00 on a battery is not worth watching an 800.00 bird fall from the sky.

I have seen them for as little as $90 and up to $148 but even at $58 difference the savings isn't worth it.

Only use @DJI battery packs, or face the costly consequences, on your own...   Why risk your awesome pricey drone, for a cheap battery contender?Be smart, and do the right thing...  ;-)
I bought three extra @DJI intelligent flight batteries, and am completely satisfied...  Heck, I even bought a second 100w charger, to keep my kit ready to "Go". Ha
This isn't something you want to risk losing, to save $10 or even $100.

Well I took all the good advise and received my DJI Phantom 3 battery today only to find its dead (faulty) right out of the box.

Dead, as in, when you press the power button, no LED diodes light up green nor the red power button itself?

Have you already tried to charge it?

Dead as can be. No red light, no green lights. Charger does nothing but will charge my other ones.

I will say that deals can be had,  However buy from a reputable dealer (Like B&H) who you are confident will be selling authentic products and stand behind them.   I ended up getting a phantom 3 battery on Jet.com,   they had it for ~140 and they have first time coupon codes that scored me 30$ off.  They also dont charge tax or shipping.  It was great I ended up having some credit with them from a previous purchase which took the thing down to like 75$.   As far as Ebay and Amazon,   if it seems too good to be true.... RUN!!!!

And yes, with a non DJI battery in an expensive aircraft is highly no recommended. Even if batteries were $25 I still wouldn't use them.

They have a 30 day warranty, so either way is ok.
It may be quicker if you use them because they may send one now to you and wait until getting yours.
At least they did that for me one time long ago on an item I bought.

Called B&H Photo customer service and explained the problem and they immediately emailed me a RMA number and a pre paid UPS return label. Its on its way back to them and once they receive it they will send a replacement. Cant ask for more than that.

using a non inferior non DJI battery is 100% not worth it. I don't see why anyone would even use one even if it was 1/2 the price.
If your new car required 91 octane premium gas and you only used the 87 octane and after a while you had engine problems. That's going to be an expensive engine repair for you. And when you complain that the engine is under warranty and their test analysis proves you didn't use premium, you have no one but yourself to blame.
Now if a company claims that their newer low octane fuel is totally safe for premium only vehicles, then you go try to get reimbursed form them.

It is a free country and you're free to buy what you like.
if you feel strongly abut you're statement then by all means... use what ever battery you like.
Im not selling batteries nor phantoms,  thus I don't have a dog in the fight.
My opinion was clearly stated,  and my advice was given in regards as to the topic that was in question.
Thats as far as this discussion will go.
