I have not updated firmware in awhile. Everything seemed to be going along fine and then lthe status light went solid red and resulted in one long continuous beep. Turned off and back on and again it went straight to red light and long beep. Is there anything else I can do or is it bricked?

What Update do you currently have on the Aircraft ?  Make sure you have The Transmitter OFF when Updating the Aircraft as well.  You cannot Skip Updates, You must go in Order until you get to the Latest one.

I dont Think it is bricked, just bring me up to speed ;

What is your current update firmware for Aircraft, RC and Go APP?
Was the Transmitter on When you were Updating Aircraft ?
Did you skip the order of updates ? Cant go 1.3 to 1.6 for example .
Were you using a Fresh formatted SD card?
Was JUST the Firmware On the SD card Nothing Else ?
What Model do you have: Advanced ? Pro? Standard ?


Here are some other tips, maybe this will help you as well, get back to me on the above though.
-Make sure you download the proper firmware.  If you have the Pro make sure not downloading for the Advanced or standard.
-Make sure you only download the Bin File to the FRESH FORMATTED SD CARD.
-Make sure transmitter is NOT on when downloading Firmware to aircraft ( VERY IMPORTANT)
-When installing SD with fresh  firmware  card in Aircraft make sure it is off. Then turn on aircraft, the firmware will then load.
-Stairstep your updates, you can go from say 1.3 to 1.6 but it is better to stairstep.
-All the firmware numbers  for the RC - aircraft- Go App - Camera WONT BE THE SAME . For example the current aircraft firmware is 1.6.0.40  but the RC Firmware is 1.5.70.  A LOT OF FOLKS GET CONFUSED ON THIS   (Including Yours Truly when first starting out.)
-Make sure to read what each update is effecting. For example 1.6.0.4.0 will require each battery to be updated as well. Keep Informed

The RC and Go App are at the most current update. I have to be honest and say I'm not sure what firmware was on my aircraft prior to the update attempt.

The transmitter was off during aircraft update.

I didn't realize you couldn't jump updates so yes, I did go straight to 1.6.

I did use a freshly formatted card.

The firmware was the only thing on the card.

This is a Pro model.

You are going to have to find out what firmware is on the aircraft. Turn everything on like you're about to fly and look on the about page to find out what firmware is currently on the aircraft. Once you do that please let me know the next step will be to upgrade the firmware but the next step up, you can't go right to one point sec

That last sentence should say 1.6. You must do this in order for it to work.

Also, make sure aircraft is off, then insert SD card with latest firmware, in order and then turn on the aircraft and the update will then begin

I am not at my home computer right now, I am at the airport in Michigan taking my wife and daughter there for spring break trip. When I get home I will edit these posts and make sure I give you an update.

I have the same experience donnie - i could have skipped 1 update and went straight to ver 1.06. So does it mean that i need to go back to ver 1.03 amd then work my way up to ver 1.06? Tried changing card batteries but was not very successful. All i get is a long beeep. Thanks in advance

You can remove any firmware and re-flash with any version you like. You will need the factory service.bin file available here http://thedailydroner.com/threads/dji-phantom-3-firmware.11/
