My Local Apple store has P4 in stock. It's tempting but I ordered mine from DJI website to save tax.

Folks are buying them now at the Apple Store. This is cool because now we will see some real world use videos.

So what do these eager early adopters do when they get home and have an expensive brick since the DJI Go app hasn't been updated yet for the 4?

And how are they supposed to carefully read the user manual before flying it when there is no user manual yet?  According to the Phantom website the box only comes with a quick start guide, disclaimers and battery care instructions and they haven't provided the full user manual online yet.

No I think you misunderstand. I want to see videos from random people that forked out $1400 for a new drone then then took it out for their first flight. That's how you learn how well the object avoidance really works.

But there is no app to fly them yet.  Does anyone know if the old app will work with the P4 at all?  Certainly none of the new functionality would work since there is no way to configure or trigger it yet.

The Apple store in Canada only has them online for preorder. We still have to wait and the price is ridiculous at $2,029.95 :@

The app is not available until after the 15th I believe.

The the protective tape that was never removed.

Walk out with Phantom but grounded flight coz no app lol

It seems like once connected to the app it does recognize your P4.   

I heard that Apple had them in stock so I called local Apple store and she said YES we have some. It was on the way home so I stopped in and asked for the Phantom 4. He looked on his device and said yes we have them. He went in the back and sure enough he came walking out with one and handed it to me. I said I'll take it and he proceeded to ring it up. It would not scan so he took it in the back to the inventory manager. He came back out without the P4. He apologized a bunch and said they were not able to sell it until the 15th. I said no problem and told him that was the published release date but I said others were getting them at other Apple stores. I'm glad they are following the rules.

Some have said that you can purchase online and schedule pick-up and get one. Sounds like there might be a lack of communication.

Even if you purchase online they have to scan it for it to leave their inventory at which point it leads to the same scenario that you ran into.
