Hi Guys,

Its not very clear if you can change the camera on the Phantom 4. I'd like to replace it with this camera: http://www.parrot.com/usa/companies/sequoia/.

Any insight on how I might accomplish this would be awesome.

Looks like you should just buy yourself the parrot if it is already prepped for this....I don't think anyone has a clue yet as to removeability of the camera...The ad states it is designed to fit on any drone. I would call the manufacturer and ask them for the details...
Also, you could likely extend the legs of the P4 or a P3 and put a plate under the camera and mount that to that plate on the underside...
The P3 camera comes off pretty easy As well...so it should not be hard to do on a P3..and for the price they are selling, hard to beat!.

You cannot change the camera on the P4.

Correct, it's built like a Swiss watch and only the repair center is to do any kind of repair work on it.
Working on it is nothing like a P3.

To the OP, like I stated, removal on the others P2/P3) is fairly easy and or extending the legs on any of them including the P4 would be an option as well with a plate that you could attach the gizmo to...

Ouch...That would be butt fugly for sure....
I really think getting some leg extenders and having a gimbal guard/plate made as some have advertised, mount it and then that gizmo to that would do the trick...This way, you could still use your Phantom camera for FPV etc. and have the best of both worlds

Yes, it would be extremely difficult to remove the camera.

I seen a few unboxing/review videos and no one tried to remove the camera in a similar way as the Inspire 1. It would of been nice but maybe the Pro version will have this feature. Saying that the camera on the P4 looks amazing and I don't think it needs any upgrades.

The P4 IS the Pro Version already.

Absolutely agree! P4 camera can not be changed to any other, and it doesn't even needs to be changed.

Digital cameras seem to be out of date quickly. Do you think DJI drone platforms will need to be upgraded more often to keep up with camera technology?

Isn't that like having to upgrade your PC just because a webcam looks dated?

yeah but the weight of  camera phantom can lift is limited, and the heavier camera the shorter flight time we get

Lately though, quads have far surpassed the rates at which camera advancements happen.

No, you will have to send it in. And if you saw the disassembly video you wouldn't want to even attempt it.

No, there is no public version.

With it being mentioned on several occasions in this thread that the Phantom 4 camera is difficult to access for servicing, I'm concerned that repair costs for a P4 are going to be significantly higher due to increased labour time and there will be additional inconvenience dealing with breakages on what is probably the most easily damaged part of the craft.

No doubt we'll find out in due course...

Well, there is only one Australian service centre and I have not heard anything about their capability, whether they can fix things or not, but I suspect not.

Going to be interesting times for sure with the P4 and lack of operator serviceability...It will surely put a damper on some folks thoughts of buying if they cannot fleabay for parts etc. as they have been able to in the past.....

Don't get me wrong., I will probably end up getting one., but more than likely not until the camera  ...

The IOS app is out now, you will start seeing photos and videos.
I promise you, the photo/video quality is very a  noticeable difference from a P3.
Here's a quick sample, totally unedited and didn't even have the right camera settings.

Hi Ken...how do I get in touch with the rep air centre? I am having major pixelation with the camera to the extent I can hardly make out anything in live view and the camera appears to be out of sync as well,showing me an extremely pixeled take off area with bands of colour whereas I am already up above the house.
Antenna position makes no difference.
Sd card download shows the same degradation.
Guess I will need that address...thankyou

On DJI home page go to support drop down menu , look under repair services, then recommended centres. UK is DroneDoctor.co.uk or Netherlands or Germany for official DJI centres

Im sorry, if your getting the same results on the SD card then it's the camera. The above post for support is correct.
If your in the US, Monday morning call 818-235-0789 and they will take care of an RMA for you.

You guys are NOT technicians obviously, All electronics Can be retrofitted or repaired.

No, there are additional control channels in the P4Pro camera that are not accomodated in the P4 aircraft.

Hello, I have P4P with broken gimbal and working camera.
What about buying new P4 gimbal and then put back P4P camera on that P4 gimbal?

I have all the functions as its P4P drone it's just that cam connection should pass trough P4 gimbal..
