It looked like you were testing this in a P2, (P3 remotes don't have a slide switch).  Maybe they work in a P3 only.

Yes, The P3s uses the same remote.
And no, it won't work in a P2.

Not to mention the P2 and P3 batteries are NOT interchangeable.

Well, the DJI battery is (was?) $129, and this paperweight was $96...so $34. Substantially more than your "ten buck" comment.

You won't get much sympathy around here. As Elmer said, Rule #1 is don't buy a non-DHJI battery.

I hope you are able to get your money back.

...

I could be wrong about this Ken, but I think it's legal for a couple reasons.

First, DJI didn't invent a lipo battery and therefore they don't have any patent on it leaving the door open for anyone to make something for it.  Same as someone that makes a backpack for DJI products.

Also, China has VERY VERY loose intellectual property law. I don't even think it's illegal to copy movies and sell them on the street there.  Most knock offs come from China.  I am not making a judgement.  A lot of people from America think we have way too strong IP laws.

Personally I like IP laws because it innovates.

But a lipo battery has been invented and the patent is up so anyone can make one.

I'll give you an example.  Turntables.  For 17 years the ONLY really good turntable on the market was the Technics 1200 and that was because they invented the direct drive rather than that belt that spins the table and almost on the day the patent ran out, there were a million fantastic, way better than Technics 1200 tables available like they were waiting for the day, I was a kid then so thats how I learned about IP law.

For 17 years, this was the only good TT.  Now there are literally 100s.

Did you buy this knowing it was a copy and hoped for the best or just thought it was a good deal? I bought all the kit for my P3P from a wholesale importer and the actual P3P so got it a lot cheaper... I would still not risk any after market stuff though as its way to much money to drop out of the sky for $35 saving......

UK Retal at time of purchase V what I paid is
P3P £1185 / £730
Batteries £125 / £80

A decent discount and original. Shop around absolutely but don't get aftermarket Chinese crap.

Whats sucks is it appears the battery is going to work and then the error comes later after start up interupting start up. in my opinion that is not a battery problem but a DJI problem. It appears DJI is blocking non DJI batteries!!

Considering the liability consequences of using a "bad" battery - it doesn't surprise me that DJI won't allow 3rd party batteries.    If the aircraft unexpectedly falls from the sky, bursts into flames,  starts a ground/house fire, etc. - DJI could be held liable.

It's really not much different than Boeing and Airbus only allowing certified batteries in their aircraft.

Did everyone who is having trouble actually update the firmware in the batteries? We have used SEVERAL of these batteries with 3 different Phantom 3 units and they work exactly like the DJI batteries. Of course, they did not work until we updated the firmware (which is the way intelligent batteries operate in the first place).

Update: I stand corrected. As of just a few minutes ago, I am getting the same message. This is NOT an issue with the batteries though. It's an issue with DJI. These after market batteries have worked fine for us for weeks (until today). I'll post back if I work out a solution.

BTW, DJI Go is the only app I am using that gives this error. Litchi and others still fly fine.

Update 2: I downgraded DJI Go to version 2.6.0 and I can use after market batteries again.

By the way, the new batteries look amazing and the vents are perfect.  Also wouldn't take a chance with warranty screw up with a non-dji bat.

DJI needs to drop the price a bit. $149 for a battery is a bit over the top for a Quad that will be old since the P4 came out.   Why would I want to buy a P4 if the cost to upkeep a hobby Camera Drone is so much ?

My next quad will NOT be a DJI if the costs are too high to keep it maintained.

And as far as the aftermarket batteries ?  The new firmware will not allow any of them work from what I have heard.

If this or any update causes my investment in non-DJI batteries to go down the drain, I won't be buying another DJI product either. I was a die hard fan (I've bought 2 DJI drones, and Osmo, and was intending to buy the Ronin M and the S1000) until yesterday.

Bangood.com batteries are still being purchased and still do not work using DJI-GO app. I have replied to unhappy customers that a 3rd party app is needed to use app and Bangood has deleted each and every one. Another reason to stay far away from this company as they are just plain untrustworthy....and they lie. Said all batteries sold after March 8 2016 would work in current GO app. It of course, doesn't.

I agree though that if Bangood has made claims that their batteries work with the current DJI Go app, they should refund and sales made since that claim was posted.

However, keep in mind it is DJI who has disabled use of these batteries. As you have stated, the batteries still work in apps aside from DJI Go. Perhaps you should be upset with DJI as well. I am learning to use Litchi as it's a better app anyway.

OK then. So I have had some time now using this knockoff battery using the Litchi app. As of todays last flight, and a total of 12 charges, the best this battery can output is 4037 mAh.

My original OEM battery, as of todays last flight,  after a total of 14 charges, the battery output is an extremely healthy 4382 mAh.

The knockoff battery was manufactured on 29-Jun-2015, almost a year ago.

My original OEM battery was manufactured 21-Jan-2016, one month before I purchased my P3s.

My 2nd OEM battery, that I bought AFTER the knockoff battery fiasco, was manufactured 08-Sep-2015, a full 3 months newer than my oldest battery, the Chinese knockoff.

Seeing how fast this knockoff is losing mAh, I will have to keep a running record, once or twice a month check. The OEM batteries seems to be excellent and still very close to the claimed mAh.

My advice, get OEM only. Dollar for dollar, it is the best product and value. At the rate the knockoff is deteriorating, it won't last me 8 mos...I hope it does, but I don't hold high expectations.
