Presently there is a ceiling limit of 500 metres (1500 ft) for the Phantom 3 Pro.

I am planning to make a trip to Venezuela's Angel Falls which is slightly over 1,000 m tall. I would like to video tape the water fall from the top down to base.
Is there a way to circumvent the ceiling height to achieve this shot?
This is bucket list stuff.
Presently I can only fly half way up the falls.
So, short of climbing or hiring a helicopter to land on top... can the programming be changed?

Nope, other then launching from a higher elevation, you're stuck with 500 meters.

If you're using an older firmware, not sure which, you can simply get the bird up to 500m. Once you get the max altitude warning, hold the RTH button and then press up on the ascend stick. This has since been eliminated with recent firmware updates however.
Other than that, you could pick up an older Phantom  1 or 2 which is what people on youtube are using to get 3,000-7,000 ft. You can install a 4k Go Pro...Go Pro is also suspected of releasing an 8k Go Pro camera near the end of the year.

Sure, another option would to shoot the water fall in parts, one standing at the base ascending and the second standing at the top and descend.

I've heard if you hold down the RTH button, that will over ride the ceiling height limit..

Rent a Nikon D800 and a Nikkor 80-400mm lens. ;-)
