I have tried to get the updates by following the procedure but it is not working.  I have a message "USB debugging is disabled". How do I enable it?  Also, I am not getting any info on the inspire on my tablet.

I Supose you're using Android. Depending on the version here is how to enable USB debugging

for Lolipop

for Kit Kat

After you enable USB debugging it should recognize the controller
