Does the controller battery need to be stored at the 30-50% level like the battery for the actual Phantom? Will it automatically discharge too?

My P3 Tx is almost a year old and I never have.  I charge it when the 3rd light blinks and always keep it charged.  It would take a long time to run the battery down to 50% and then to charge it back up again when you want to fly.

Now this is interesting and something I hadn't considered.

How do you charge a controller (I don't own one yet still gathering info) and how long does it last? I see lots of reference to everyone having 2, 3 or more spare batteries for their actual Phantom, but would you be limited to flight time because of controller?

No, the controller battery lasts a very long time, mine lasts for at least two days of flying. I have a P3P and it is charged by the same charger as the flight battery, except it has a different connector.

Thanks hummingbird and Geebax.....

With the Phantom 3 Pro'. I can easily fly four consecutive fully charged intelligent flight batteries, down to 20%.
And have plenty of power left in the RC, probably enough for ten full flights. Or more.
I find the same general battery time with my iPad Air 2 64gb Cellular model.
Enough charge, to keep a grown man in grins and chuckles for many hours... ;-)
I also bought a second 100w charger to maintain the whole kit and kaboodle...
