I've performed an upgrade of firmware of the RC and aircraft, bad idea (newest as of 22nd March 2016)

It now says permanently "Aircraft Disconnected". Turning on the aircraft none of the internal fans engage and it makes no sounds. Plugging it in via USB to Windows or OSX machines doesn't detect as device as expected.

I've tried two devices iPhone & iPad running iOS 9.2.1. App version 2.7.1, RC 1.5.80 & unable to obtain aircraft version as the app is reporting version unknown (it will be the latest as of 22 March 2016)

Best effort when I did manage to get a connection, launching the drone using the automatic launching feature, 5-10seconds after it comes crashing down. It's like the kernel crashes as all the props, internal fans stop along with the connection dropping from the RC/app.

I've tried contacting DJI directly but haven't got a response, this is my first DJI product and my experience so far is rubbish.

I'm thinking the battery is faulty. Above log shows successful firmware upgrade. Camera LED indicator is off.

Hi elijah.g! All the fw versions seems to be right! Did you update it trough the DJI GO app or DJI Assistant 2?  Please Make sure that the driver in your PC or mac installed correctly.  You have to install the driver first and then install the Assistant itself.

Tim - it still doesn't solve the problem of the aircraft not booting and linking to the RC.

It's going back to Apple if not sorted.

Press the C1 + C2 + Trigger (photo) buttons and keep them pressed and TURN OFF the controller.
By still keeping pressed the C1 + C2 + Trigger (photo) buttons TURN ON the controller.

Followed video and confirmed this does not link the RC to the aircraft. The link light is not lit in any way.
