I found that 98% of these are simple scams to obtains peoples personal information for mass marketing and telemarketing, so I avoid unknown businesses such as this one.

Nah, tons of websites all use the same technology backend for deals and stuff (branded as Cult of Mac, TouchArcade, etc.). I've purchased a bunch of of online training videos from them for, like, 95% off. Every once in a while they have a giveaway.

It's not an "unknown" like you say. Sites like digg, The Chive, Engadget, cnet, PC Magazine, IGN, etc. all use the Stack framework to offer their readers deals. They don't share information between vendors and it's all a closed-loop opt-in/opt-out system. The only emails I get are deals that relate to me and I can opt-out any time.
