I have searched for this topic but could not find anything.

If a buddy and I both have Phantom 3 Advanced, can we use each others batteries? Say for example if he is going on a trip, I give him my batteries to give him some extra flying time.

First you need to send them to me for verification they can be shared.  Please also send me your phantom  as I need to make sure it doesn't have the Sharable Charging Application Module or SCAM included

Only if you have the same drone on the same FW. I tried to lend my P3P batteries on old FW to a friend who has the P3S on new FW. He got an error and couldn't use them.
