So basically I bought the phantom 4 and to complement the purchase I also bought the latest iPad Mini by apple, the iPad Mini 4.

Now, this model is not included in the compatibility list by dji however it supposrts the iPad Mini2 and the iPad Mini 4 a which are older than the iPad Mini 4.

I believe that this does not make sense since I have a later version and is much more powerful.

To disappoint me further I own the iPhone 5 however the compatibility starts fromthe iPhone 5s and later which clearly reverses the point of the iPad Mini above.

Any suggestions what I should do other than changing iPads and/or iPhone please?

iPad Mini 4 is compatible

I have an iPad mini 4 as well and it works great. No compatibility issues whatsoever.

Same here with no issues. Perfect size and weight.

FYI, the Apple iPad mini "Smart Case" not only works great with the tablet but it is slim enough to fit in the Phantom mobile device holder.  This provides protection without bulk.

You got your Smart Cover to work? I can't get a decent magnetic connection to the iPad at all. Seems like junk to me. Don't know if it's an iPad issue or cover issue.

Anyway, the mini 4 has been a perfect complement for the P4. Just need a sunshade now. And maybe another battery. And maybe a filter. And maybe another SD card. And maybe......

Sorry, do you mean that when you connect your mini4 to the RC, the app stays "How to connect”？
If you meet this issue, you can try to reset your mini4 to factory via itunes and try again.

I posted a question similar to yours on the forum. DJI-Amy indicated it should work, so I went ahead and got a Mini 4, in the cellular flavor. It indeed worked flawlessly.

After two weeks, I upgraded to a Pro 9.7. While the Pro 9.7 is a better match for my (other) uses, I find the Mini 4 to be the ideal size for flying the P4, the 9.7 tablets being on the bulky and heavy side for the controller.
