What this person is trying to say is that everytime DJI releases a new firmware it has a bunch of issues and that they do this on purpose hoping that you will crash your Phantom so that you will have to purchase a new one!

Hate to say it, but I don't think planned obsolescence via software updates is their marketing strategy. They have enough users who crash the drones on their own, i'm not sure they need help.

Also remember that, most folks who have no issues never post anything. You only hear on places like these forums from the minority, who do have problems. For the majority, no issues. I have upgraded every firmware and every software update, few hiccups in getting the firmware installed, but never caused any issues. I would prefer detailed change logs, but I've not had any issues (and many are the same).

Or DJI is just getting rid of the ones that do not read the manual correctly.

Why not, Apple have been doing this for years.
They make your product work less each time through updates. At some point your product will no longer work because of this.
So you buy a New Product.
Happy Days....

I understand that can be frustrating not to control the update process but honestly this is not marketing 101.

My dad made maternity dresses - he would joke that he'd send us all out to drum up biz.

I have no issues with updates.  I have been flying my Phantom 2 Vision with Rotorpixel for over two years now with no problems whatsoever.  I have never updated.

Got to say that I don't agree with the marketing ploy but since getting my P3A back in March 2016 and updating the App (IOS) my machine has never been the same.  

On take off (below 10ft) she's all over the place but over 10ft it's fine and flies like it did from day one. I've calibrated everything and still at low level the bird just moves in every direction And VPS is on! Now I can only takeoff and land in open (large) areas.

I just keep updating in the hope it gets better.
