DJI marketing are proud to advertise the duplicate compass and IMU in the Phantom 4 FAQ but there is no mention of a second GPS there or in the specs.

14. Why add a redundant IMU and compass to the Phantom 4?A  redundant IMU and compass enhances system reliability. The Phantom 4  can constantly compare data received from both IMUs and then navigate  itself using the most accurate data. The same is true of the redundant  compasses.

No it is not pointless.  They have been known to glitch.  There are many MRs flying two GPS; I have one.  If one is erratic or not receiving as many Sats the FC will switch to the other one.

I would depend upon your house. Mine has an iron roof, and there is no GPS reception inside at all.

Yes but inside a house reception can be dodgy..
We're waiting for your outdoor comparison so that variable can be eliminated.

If your bird flies outside without any problems and you are happy with the performance I would say this is a non-issue. Enjoy life, flying your birds and move on...
