How did you get that data to show on your screen like that?

Well I tested my p4 out today , I got 2800m with a parabolic before warning started to appear.

This was on CE mode .

On my p3 I got 3600m and still had full signal.

Come on dji you need to increase the power again, your controller power output is no where the legal limit here in the UK of 100mw...

My Maximum record is 6.5KM single way and totally 13KM round trip with stock Phantom 4 plus parabolic antenna reflector.  Land with 20% battery, mind wind and fly with sport mode.   Speed keep at around 13-15m/s

Tested before, stock antenna can only survive for 3km

I really dont know ive never had past 6-7000 ft before . I have tried distance before at the local beach which you see to the far right on the screen shot buti  went out of town to a high point on an open area surrounded by fields and just stuck it up 200 ft and sent it across the basin area as there would be no interference and that's what ive ended up with

Some of these distances are insane! I have just posted asking people if I have a problem as I am striggling to get over 1500ft without a loss of signal warning.

Newbie question here.  I have a brand new, out of the box P4.  My app currently has a software limit of 500 m.  How do I get past that?

500m is the height limit, not distance limit. I'm not sure if go app has geofence limit for default, but if yes You can change this in settings.

Same weather conditions as yesterday but different location - this time the local beach 5600 ft with loss of connection and auto return to home kicked in . So for me all depends on where you are as 10,000ft difference from 1 day to the next says it all  

2200 ft repeatedly before RTH kicks in and that's at 220 ft high....and I'm at a higher elevation with minimal obstructions.

I am trying to figure out how to upload the screenshot.

My Go App, in "Main Controller Settings"  has:
1.  Set maximum Flight Altitude (20-500m). Set to 120.
2.  Enable Maximum Distance   (On/off). Set On.
3.  Set Maximum Flight Distance.  (15-500M). Set to 500.

   Rest assured, when I get to 500 meters, I get a message and the drone stops.  I have flight logs to prove it.

Now, again.  How do I get rid of this limitation?

Hmm You cannot disable  "Enable maximum distance"  settings ? Probably when You set this to On You can set max 500m, but if You disable it, You can fly without limitations....

Funny!  Now I am looking for how to upload the picture of my red face!

That setting should say "set range limit."  Not "enables maximum distance."  I will go out today and see how it works.

Great thread, I hope to do some long range testing tonight for the first time.  

I assume you guys are flying until your signal gets weak, or your battery starts to get low?  Then you are placing your faith in the Return To Home function to get it back if it loses signal?

Should I fly higher to limit the obstructions between the P4 and the controller?

Thanks, this is what I assumed with the DJI setup, but assuming has gotten me into trouble!

Can you remind me how to check the RTH settings in the DJI Go app?  I don't think I've made any of these changes, but I just want to be sure I've got it set to RTH once the signal is lost.

In my neighborhood I get about 3,000 feet with the P3. My P4 gets about 4,200 feet. I use the P4 t ...

When using these attachments to boost signal; how is the interference from trees and such.  I get a lot of video disruptions around trees and obstacles

A parabolic antenna reflector will not let you push or receive signals through trees or any other obstruction; they will just increase unhindered signal strength.

So; you are flying the drone in regular GPS mode and not sport mode at the point that you lose reception?  

I looked at my GPS log the other day and found that the max range was just over 3 miles. The target, a local casino, looked a lot closer than that but the log tells no lies. I do use a cheap parabolic antenna and it was a bit tricky to keep it pointed at the far end of the flight but it was still doing OK. This was over semi-rural land. This was the second furthest flight. I am still loving the sport mode. For long range travel it is amazing. I really like that my drone can get places many times faster than my car due to slow roads vs straight line flying at 45MPH.

I am always surprised to see more Albertan's on this forum. Particular those folks who live right here in the Capital city, of Edmonton. ;-)
