I have the new iPad Pro 9.7 working well with my P4. Did you check to see if you're up to date with the firmware for the iPad? Try deleting the DJI Go app and then reloading it.

I had the same problem with my P4 and iPad pro 9.7 inch. Received my iPad pro with iOS 9.3.1. For six days I tried everything, talking to DJI support, reading forums, etc. I only fixed the problem after I down loaded IOS 9.3.2 Beta software.  Yep, that fixed my problem.

I fly P4 and iPad Pro 9.7 (wifi only), with no problems.    All are on latest firmware/OS (iPad has OS it was released with on March 31).
I also fly the P4 with Samsung Galaxy S5 / Android 5.1.1, and I do not have problems with flight, but I do seem to have to restart the phone to get DJI Go to connect to the RC again each time.  The iPad does not exhibit this problem.

We never tested it, so we can not guarantee compatibility. But I've seen some guys use this devices and it runs well.

Yes I fly with the iPad Pro 9.7 inch and so far so good especially coming from a Nexus 6. I still need to go out and test it on a sunny day though haven't had the chance due to rain here in Los Angeles.

You shouldn't have any problem as long as you are using the latest IOS and Firmware up date to your Phantom. I use an iPad Mini 4. It is the perfect size to go along with the RC.

Thanks Bobreich, how did you download ois 9.3.2 beta? My system is 9.3.1 an says is up to date?

In oder to install IOS 9.3.2 you have to sign up with Apple and become a Beta tester.  Go to Apple.com and it will explain how to do this.  Keep in mind there there is always a risk running Beta software, as it can break stuff. If you decide not to down load the beta software,  IOS 9.3.2 should be officially released some time soon.

Like I told you earlier, after talking to Apple support and DJI support neither had a solution to my problem.  Apple said 9.3.1 probably broke DJI GO 2.7.1, but from reading forums, it was clear there were people having no problems with IOS 9.3.1 and DJI GO 2.7.1.  DJI support said it should work, but it didn't.  I was pretty pissed and decided to take the risk.  I performed the following steps.

Un-installed/deleted  DJI Go App from ipad pro

Installed IOS 9.3.2 Beta

Re-installed DJI GO 2.7.1

Bingo, now when I  opened DJI GO,  I could now connect to my P4

After using the Mini 4 for 2 weeks, I moved to the (then just released) iPad Pro 9.7, cellular version. BTW, I find the Mini 4 is a better size than the Pro 9.7 (or Air 2) to fly a Phantom. I got the Pro 9.7 because I wanted the iPad for other things than just flying the Phantom.

My iPad Pro 9.7 came with IOS 9.3. I restored my Mini 4 data, getting the DJI GO app installed. I then upgraded to 9.3.1. Everything went smoothly and works just fine with the P4...

Why do you say it is a better size?  Isn't the increased brightness and less reflective screen on the Pro an advantage over the Mini?

In practice, I have not found a significant difference in regards to the screen performance of the Mini 4 vs. the Pro 9.7: in really sunny conditions, both require using some kind of hood; around sunrise/sunset or when a few clouds are around, both remain legible. The transition point may be different, but assessing that would require side-by-side tests that I have not done.

The reason I prefer the Mini 4 over the Pro 9.7 is the bulk and weight. The controller feels more balanced with the Mini 4. The hood is another problem: the DJI hood is just perfect for the Mini 4. DJI does not make a hood for the Pro 9.7/Air 2; what I found is just not as good in terms of fit and finish, and adds to the bulk (it is almost twice the weight).

A side benefit, which probably does not really “count”: the Mini 4 fits in the original P4 case, whereas the Pro 9.7/Air 2 does not.

I guess that, in the end, it is a matter of personal preference. The Pro 9.7 is (more than) perfectly usable; I just find the Mini 4 is a better match. I know several readers of this forum have and use both form factors; maybe they can chime-in…

Beware! Flew the P4 on 50 flights with an iPad Pro 9.7 with no issues. Suddenly today I started getting the dreaded "Weak image transmission signal" and choppy video feed even from 2 meters away (even though the HD indicator had full bars). When I switched to my iPhone 6s, the problem was gone.

Maybe a firmware issue / incompatibility with the iPad Pro?
