Yes, of course it has gps at night.  Unless you are in a cave or indoors or somewhere the gps signal  can not reach.

Unless ET or some other Alien toasts all the satellites there will be GPS 24 hrs. a day...the number of satellites will vary but GPS is there as long as Satellites are up...For what it is worth, some of my best and longest distant flights have been late at night,,,,

If you need to ask a question like that, maybe a P4 is not a good idea for you right now.  Might want to read up some before jumping.  Start with a less complex drone.

Reminds me that I've seen several flyers thinking they would not have GPS when they went on holiday etc.
Not realising what the G in GPS stands for.  (global)
Or others believing that clouds knocked out their GPS.

The object avoidance does not work in low light or darkness, likewise the down-facing camera.  Perhaps you saw a refernce to that.

What will be interesting is that Phantom 4 supports GPS & GLONASS, when the European system Galileo comes online in 2020 will this be incorporated to give millimetre precision using all three systems.
Phantom 8 perhaps

By that time, 2020, there will be Phantom 8 out there which may fly itself. No need for any GPS

Careful how you answer this seemingly simple question. Southern California is covered by the second advisory now. They seem to be scheduled for night and cover a huge area.
