True, the ND Filter is entirely based on the angle of the light that is hitting it. It is pretty easy when you have a stationary known subject. You can always adjust in Post.

In general, you'll get better imaging from fixed nd's than from variable ones. You pay an awful lot for a high quality variable nd, and I've yet to see those manufacturers making stuff for this market.
