Sounds like that British Airways airliner may have hit a plastic bag according to the the Telegraph.  So quick to assume it was a drone!

Anything a pilot sees is automatic a drone. Truth maybe they are not able to tell what they see with the fast closing speed and a small size. Maybe this will make other pilots a lot more caution. before they make such statement. Can only hope.

There are certainly idiots out there that fly where they shouldn't, but the media likes to portray UAV's as a constant menace way to often.  To the contrary, I notice aircraft flying below 400 feet all the time and no not within 5 miles of airports and heliports. We need to respectfully and SAFELY share the airspace.  My two cents.

Ground Handler intercepts drone en route for collision with Air Canada aircraft "I saw the drone flying across the pad at a high rate of speed and grabbed it just before it collided with the aircraft!" explained the AirCanada employee. RCMP now have this dangerous drone in custody, they believe it was sold at a nearby grocery store and are asking the public to help them track down the operator.

So all it took was plastic bags to get the registration done and collect a hefty sum of moolah from us all, while putting us all on another feel good list?     SLICK!

Any excuse to make revenue from us poor souls. Next we are going to have to register to fly a kite. Double the fee for aerobatic ones.
