Looking for an IPAD 2 or IPAD Mini 1st Gen, currently using an IPHONE 6S for DJI Vision.    Has anyone used an older IPAD successfully?   I know WIFI is needed, do all IPAD 2's have GPS?   Or does a Cellular IPAD 2 have to be used?  Oh yeah, I am a newbie loving the Phantom and intend to upgrade to either the Phantom 3 or 4.

I 've been using my IPHone 6s with no issues, I would just like a larger display.  Any suggestions?  Is GPS required on an android or IOS tablet?   Or is the GPS in the Phantom doing all the work?

GPS is only needed if you want to use the dynamic home point feature.
The GPS in the Phantom takes care of everything else.
I only use Android so cant help with the iPad or Mini, but I know that there is no Vision app for iPad, I think you run in iPhone compatibility mode and use the same app that you are using now.
