It was not the best of conditions for photos but, this is the largest container ship to dock in the U.S. -- I really had no choice.

Don't think the ship will be in use much if thats all it is going to carry.  Probably going to cost more to run the ship.  Hard to believe how these container ships stay afloat when fully laiden.

Sometimes its a refreshing change to see some different weather shots.  Whats that small island towards the end of the video ?

I was lucky to get the shot. I almost turned around went home. It was raining pretty steady up until 10 minutes before I began shooting.

If you look at  the opening shot of the bridge (at the tower) you can see a rain drop hits the lens.

This was only the 3rd visit to the U.S. for the Benjamin Franklin. She received heavy media coverage on her first visit and showed being fully loaded.
The small island is Alcatraz, famous or infamous, depending on point of view/time-frame.
To me Alcatraz is most notable for its use as a Federal Prison 1933 - 1963

I thought it was Alcatraz when I seen it, but just thought I would wait for confirmation rather than perhaps upset you with something that may have been wrong.

The island looks closer to the mainland than what I visualised.  Makes you think that those convicts who did escape in the 60's may very well have made it to the mainland in their home made dingy made of raincoats.  Very ingenious.

They do look close. It must be swimmable, a friend of mine swam the Irish channel, just over 20 miles, at some points the tide was moving over 8 knots so I'm sure it must be possible to swim that.

Yes, it is swimmable. The 'Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon' is coming up in June. I believe drones were used in filming the event last year.
