Here is proof.

I believe DJI has decreased range performance because they want to be able to tell the FAA that software/firmware keeps their product within VLOS. It is like their software/firmware keeps us from even starting our UAS inside class D airspace or within a control zone.

Don't shoot me if this is incorrect but I have just completed my UAV controller certificate and during the training our instructor told us to ignore the distance figure claimed in the specifications. In Australia due to transmitter regulations here they have less power than unit purchased for other countries.

You are partially correct.
The controller is identical to all countries, however the GPS data is used to determine which power output to use. In Aus, I believe, CE is used for the approved legal output limit, FCC for other none European countries.

And Australian purchased Phantoms will easily travel the distances shown in the specs if you are away from interference.

How can you say that it was in the wrong frequency? I thought the Frequency range of the RC controllers were at the 2.4GHz (2400 MHz) to 2.483 GHz  (2483 Hz)

From DJI web Page specs.

Operating Frequency        2.400 GHz-2.483 GHz

Yep! I am afraid we need to forget about DJI for any PRO usage! We should have the ability to overide that power transmit limitation at our own risk!

It is now impossible to use that brand anymore. Looks like that they move from PRO brand to TOY brand...

I can only speak for my phantom 3 4k can only go 44 metres before ulose range

All I know for sure is this P4 don't fly no where near as far as my P3 pro did, I am ready to take it back.
