Hey yall!  So, I want to get my fishing line out to far distances with my P3A.  I have been using a makeshift of straws and electrical tape.  Most of the time it actually works pretty well.  However, sometimes, every once in a while, things will get sketchy:   a little too sketch for a 1000 dollar toy.  Anyways, when it gets sketch, sometimes my hook will get snagged on the straw/tape, and when i tug to get it to drop in the water, it just yanks on my copter.  I'll put up  a picture here in a little bit.  I'm on my lunch break.  Would love to hear any and all ideas!!!!!

Maybe hang a magnet on a short piece of line (away from the compass) & attached a steel rig to the line to hold it.

I have seen a video, which I think is in this forum someplace, where a guy is using some kind of slip knot. So you have the fishing line then another string with the slip knot. Once he got out far enough he pulled the string and it released the fishing line.

Hook a loop over the gimbal. Rotate camera up. Fly to position. Rotate camera down, line drops in water.

Sure, this is how I ended up with two drowned drones

That's why I went looking for something better and found it

I would never tie anything to my P3P and send it over water
Its like asking for it... lol
Thats why im building F450 to use it for fishing
I know Naza light is not lightbridge but i still be able to take the bait out good 300+yds
Plus i can install simple servo under the frame to release the line

I cannot recall how many times I have written this, but over a year ago a friend showed me his method and it is still the simplest one I have seen. You secure a plastic clothes peg from a piece of nylon cord attached to the centre of each leg, then you open the peg and place your fishing line in the jaws of the peg. Fly the aircraft out to where you want to drop the bait, and a gentle tug on the line releases it and it drops into the water. No complicated servos and it is safe because if the line gets snagged, it pulls out of the peg and releases the drone.

I did that after reading one of your posts, the problem is sometimes the peg lets go too soon and if you make it that it is harder then it gets stuck from time to time. another great fright I got was that bounced up and almost got caught in the rotors..... it is simply not safe and reliable.

If you pull on it from the rod end it won't bounce up. I have seen it used time and time again without any problems.

What weight of bait does it work on?
7oz sinker plus live bait fish?
I'm worried that it will slip or get stuck?

What about the off center loading on the drone? Wont that motor on that side be over worked?
