I'm pretty sure he is Talking about something like this

http://www.amazon.com/Parabolic- ... &ref_=sr_1_3&sr=8-3

Remember when you use this type of range boosters, you better have a very good aim at the direction of your craft as the radio beams get narrower your aim better get better
My best without any mods id's around 2.5 miles at a height of 397feet.

My old record, with no boosters, was 14988 ft. And you're right, just make sure you know exactly where the bird is, and keep pointed at it.

Just sharing with you that I had the same results with those copper parabolic ones too. I decided to go one more step up if you will and installed the Argtek ones for $60. They are even better, at least for me. The copper ones did tend to fall over on me, so I would have to use some duct tape to hold them together, but really worked great. I don't have to take anything off the antenna boosters any more, and they flip right down and fit in my case perfectly. They give me a better signal overall ever where I go. I did the channel hack too, and I use channel 22 in my area, and I am amazed of the signal strength I get now.

There's always some niaive kids that think this ok. Kinda like that girl who crashed her car at 107mph because she was snap chatting. Then, in the ambulance she carried on using it to send the one below.
Hopefully Darwinism will weed her out before her stupidity hurts someone else.

Some people don't have the common sense to determine what's safe and what's dangerous. But you keep on doing what you're doing son. It's not like you'll get hurt when it goes wrong, that'll be someone else's problem.

Drone flight beyond visual range is incredibly irresponsible. Both in the sense that a person doing it lacks maturity and understanding of the risk of their actions and in the literal sense that they lack the capacity to respond to their environment.

So lets say a person goes 10 miles from any human or structure or whatever and flies 4 miles, and his max range is 5 miles, so if he crashes or something goes awry then nothing gets hurt except maybe a leaf is chopped off of a tree, the he is apparently a stupid irresponsible kid?  That is idiotic.

Stop being a wanker. I know my surroundings. I know where I am, and I know what will happen given any situation. That's why I do these flights where I do. I'm more responsible with flights like this than you are in your own backyard. In case of catastrophic failure, my bird plunges harmlessly into the water. There's literally no one within 3 miles of my Phantom.

When you fly in your yard(assuming you take it outside at all), and if you have a flyaway, or any other situation where you may lose control of the aircraft, you're far more dangerous to your surroundings, and yourself, than I.

There is no place safer to fly, or way to fly, than where and how I do.

You'd have to be ignorant, or arrogant, not to understand that.

I will tell you one story of my only flyoff.  I was at a local school at about 250 feet altitude  and about the same distance away and I had my one and only flyoff, It flew for over 4 miles .  This just goes to show you can loose these at any time and they are gone, the only way you can guarantee they will not fly off is not to fly.  I fly long distance as well, I do it as responsibly as I can, there is always a chance for a flyaway.

I always ask is it better to fly far distances in rural areas or to fly close to you in congested areas, to me they pose the same risk.

Warm Regards - donnie

To get your battery to 100% try and do a normal full charge, then plug it in and see where you stand, then plug the battery back into the charger  but this time turn the battery on after it is connected, this will top off a battery with over 95% but less than 100%.  Also after about 20-50 charges they will start to reduce from 100% this is just the nature of the beast, you get about 200 charges and the battery is done.

Be sure to cycle your batteries every 10 charges, take it down below 5% and then recharge, this helps lengthen flight time and battery life.

Hope this helps.

Aso remember when doing long distance, that aircraft will want to land at 12% battery, so just remember to have that bird on the ground at no later than 15%. and this will be even more reduced in cold weather.

cheers- donnie
