I'd go that route if the cost difference is large.  They know that product better than anyone.

But it depends solely on the price of the repair. If the repair is cheap you should repair it but there will always be a feeling that if something goes wrong with the repair you've lost your drone and your money. That's why I didn't repair my controller, instead I bought a new one which was worth it.
