"Which" one do you like? The bottom one made of aluminum looks to be the best.

A forum member has kindly printed me a similar guard on his 3D printer.
When I receive it next week, I will make comments and suggestions for others.
So far, my landings have been done on good smooth ground, or short even grass, so no need to guard my camera/gimbal.
But having that safety feature added, will give me confidence to land in, not such perfect spaces.

Repairs @DJI are often much more costly, than a simple, effective security measure, put in its place.

Buying this basic piece of insurance is a good way to save high expenses in the future, if they should ever be necessary.

I really question the benefit of a gimbal guard during a crash. Not just a hard landing, but an full crash from a good height.

Can anyone here attest to the fact that it saved them? If so, which guard and from how high did it fall?

Thanks,
Chris

Hopefully the answer will always be, "I don't know." Haha

One would need to actually crashtest (dummy) his drone, to know this outcome for sure. ;-)

I'm sure P3's are crash tested every day - albeit not intentionally.
Looks like that aluminum camera support might help a bit.
I also saw slip-on leg extensions which might be helpful on uneven surfaces (which I try to avoid).

Yeah, GoPro makes them, handy clip on units.
Here's another idea...

Very simple yet effective.

Speaking from experience, the aluminum guard does not protect the most vulnerable of the three gimbal arms - the yaw arm where it connects to the plate

I use a Carbon Fiber plate like the one in the first picture. I can see it not helping, but I can see it helping a lot and it sure doesn't hurt anything. It might shorten your flying time by a minute or something trivial (IMO) like that. I got it and a ribbon cable protector at gimbal guard dot com. No clue as to how to install the ribbon protector as it came with no instructions. The guys a nice guy though and would help if I asked. I got a Trackimo holder that works well too.

I only crashed once, and from less than 2mt high, and the arm broke exactly where you would replace it with a gimbal saver. In my experience, it would have prevent it. Of course, it also might have lead to other pice to crack, who's gonna know.
