I've had mine since Dec of last year and I can't complain. I saw the price drop today and was more in the mind of buying another one honestly. "So far" I've had really good luck out of mine and very few issues. I expected it to be a 4-5 year craft (maybe longer) but I can't imagine the images I get off of it will outdated in a few years. As with any tech the price always drops. I figure there will still be support out there for the Inspire. There's too many of them not too. Now If I just bought one a month or so ago I might be singing a different toon. But as someone else mentioned earlier.... If you buy from a quality supplier then you should get quality service.

I'm interested in what might be around the corner for the new Inspire. Like you said I figure object avoidance will most likely be on it. I'm not too concerned about that since I scout out the area I'm flying long before ever putting it in the air. Longer flight time would be nice but with 4 TB48 batteries and 1TB47 I've got a good hour of flight time and quite honestly.... that's a long time in the air for most of the things I do with mine. I can't imagine a "huge" design change since the Inspire is definitely a unique craft.

If I get 4 years out of mine I figure that is money well spent. I've probably had mine in the air at the very least once a week. Usually more often with very little trouble. I say that and I'll burn it into a tree tomorrow but hey...  the price dropped so there's that lol.

Nice share.. I had the Inspire 1 V1 for almost one year and sold it after purchasing the new V2 from DJI. Then I bought a spare from Best Buy about 60 days ago.  So far I have not contacted Best Buy to see if they would do a price guarantee for this long after the sale.  I am just going to keep moving forward and enjoy what I have.

So with all the talk about the price drop and coming I2, my biggest concern is if, when the I2 does come out, will it use the same battery. I've had my I1P for about 3 months now and plan on adding another half dozen batteries to the current 6. There is no question I will be purchasing a second bird as a back up and will wait a bit to see what the I2 brings to the table. Unless it has some truly game changing tech I can't live without, if the battery is different it's a deal killer. I just can't see having any more chargers on the work bench than I currently do. It seems a really good portion of my life is already dedicated to charging 'things' and nope, I'll never spend $500 on a charger to speed things up. That's 2 1/2 more batteries. lol

to be honest I hope they come out with a Inspire 1 V3 and keep the same basic parts that all of us can upgrade to. The whole idea of the inspire was to come out with new devices and parts for the same airframe.

The vertical space in the battery compartment should allow larger battery capacity on the Inspire 1 to be added.

Hard to say? I mean the Inspire has been out for almost a year and a half but it is still such a unique aircraft I "personally" find it hard to believe that they will come out with something that isn't at least backward (or forward) compatible. What I mean is swappable batteries, gimbal mounts, gimbals, cameras, etc... I of course could be completely wrong but that's just my gut feeling. I think in terms of the airframe itself won't change too much (if any). I base my assumption off the Phantom series for that. Again I could be wrong.

The next inspire is not going to be bigger due to portability. It won't have bigger batteries due to airplane regulations. It won't be lighter because adding another camera and obstacle avoidance adds weight and we saw this in the phantom 4. It will have an updated motor which will perform slightly better at most. Signal range will stat the same.

Unless they make the next inspire have dual batteries then it will be a major change and in the airframe too.

You know ...  I think you are correct and didn't realize this until you said it. Look at the Phantom X (not out yet) see the cool stuff these copters have, new App, retracting landing gear, camera dome underneath the belly and automatic flight control system unlike anything we have seen from DJI to date.

Just out of curiosity why's that? Not disagreeing with you but it seems like this airframe is working well and is unlike any other out there. I think that's what makes it relatively unique. Hard to say that they would stray away from this airframe in less than two years. But... who knows?

It's up to 30% reduction on the inspire v2 with the first x3 camera so I think they're trying to just flog their inventories. The other models all have much less off. My opinion is if there was a new inspire they would have released it with the x5r camera.

I am only guessing... but it could be like they did with the Matrice 600? Come out with a new airframe using the same group name, dual batteries etc....  Or they could come out with a V3...  Inspire X..... who knows what they are thinking.  I hope they do not screw all of the customers with the Inspire series machines and leave us high and dry.

The v1 and v2 are the completely the same.
The updated motors produce extra 100 grams of thrust from 2100 to 2200 grams but the v2 gimbal mounting plate is 90 grams heavier and the motors are 5 grams heavier each so the v2 despite having 100g more thrust weights 110 grams more at the same time. The only reason the v2 motors are smoother in control is because the motor and propellers are  which increases the gap between the arms and the propeller.

It's realistic and possible that the next inspire is a version 3 and not a completely new airframe.

They simply want to phase out the x3 camera because there will be a newer next gen camera that will be standard on the inspire for the similar price point.
Obstacle avoidance and possibly a second camera drilled onto the next inspire canopy.
Updated motors which will be slightly better.

It's going to be hard to expect a completely new airframe because batteries wont get any bigger due to airplane regulations. The inspire wont get any bigger due to portability. The inspire wont get any lighter because of new features. No one wants a smaller version of the inspire but possibly slimmer then a completely new airframe is possible.

also the v2 motor and 1345T propeller are both taller so the vertical gap between the prop and the arm are farther away from each other. This is done with the P4 too compared to the P3.

Does the v2 gimbal mounting plate make a difference for the X3 camera stability? Or it's only effective for heavier x5 cameras?

Honestly I don't know if it is more stable since I've only flown mine with a X3 Camera and have never flown a V1 so I can't compare. I do know the plate itself is shielded pretty heavily from vibrations due to the size of the plate and the rubber buffers between the plate and the craft itself. I've never once experienced a "jello effect" but the Inspire V1 might not suffer from that either. The main reason I waited to buy the V2 was to have the option of putting a X5 camera on it without much in the way of modifications. Only need the leg extensions.

The larger camera mount on the V2 improves the X3 camera stability "yes"  I flew both versions and you can see the difference.

I had the Inspire 1 V1 and the V2 at the same time for flight comparison and I already upgraded to the new "T" props and hubs. The flight performance with the X3 camera seemed to be very close but the V2 has more punch. I do not get the battery warnings with the V2.

Where did you hear that, I have not heard of a motor failure issue.
know many people who are flying Inspire 1's for a very long time and have never had a motor issue.
If there was a motor failure it has to be from lack of maintenance.
