DJI, can you provide some information on what ISO provides the best dynamic range for the X5R (for RAW)?While doing research about RAW cameras all the way to looking at ARRI, some provide better results at various ISO ranges (ISO 800 for example), vs trying to stay at 100. Not to mention, 100 may not even be the base ISO on that particular camera. I understand the sensor in the x5/x5r gets noisy quite quickly, but would be nice to know the detailed information of this camera so we can utilize the camera to the best of its ability when shooting conditions are not ideal. If anyone else has anything to add to this, please do. And If you feel im over thinking this, let me know... but please have some info to help me understand as there is lots of valid info to support my inqury.

Thank you.

I was looking for this before but its very hard to come across any information.

That being said, ive seen it suggested that iso 200 is the "native" iso of the camera.

Ive the x5 myself but i havent used it enough yet to really know for sure, but first impressions is there might be some truth to it.

That being said, iv ...

It would make sense as it seems "most" micro 4/3 sensors have a base ISO of 200. But besides that, I have read up that for high end cameras (BMPCC, RED, ARRI, ect..) there is a sweet spot for the most dynamic range (not necessarily least noisy). Some cameras have the same dynamic range no matter the ISO, while others change dramatically. For example, on the BMPCC forums, its said the base iso is 800, and to try and stay there to get the most dynamic range out of the super 16 sensor.

The X5R is advertised as 12.8 stops of dynamic range, is that at ISO 100 or 200... how about 800... or every ISO? For all we know, at ISO 100.. may not even break 10 stops. we may need to be in the 400+ territory before we get close to the advertised 12.8.
So... this is the type of information I am seeking. Im sure other X5/ X5R owners would like to know this as well?

Read the info here on ISO / DR: http://www.gunleik.com/tests/ale ... n_introduction.html

ill put up more examples as I come across them.

Here is a page that has info on how Canon measures the dynamic range of a C300 MKII..  https://www.cinema5d.com/canon-m ... range-c300-mark-ii/

I would like to know how DJI got the 12.8 stops.. what settings (iso, f/stop, ect)

After testing and testing the X5R for 2 months now I came to the conclusion that 200 ISO works best with cloudy conditions. When the sky is totally blue. 100 will do more than fine.

Thank you for the info. Have you done any test with higher ISO? if so, what was the results?

It was not that great the sensor is from the gh4 so you can compare it with that. Everything higher than 800 is unusable to the white screen.
