I'm new to drones and have only flown my P4 a few times. I found the video on playback to suffer from bursts of horizontal lines occassionaly, a sort of flickering. It is set to 4k3840x2160 25fps PAL

It seems to happen most when pointing into the light. Any ideas please?

PS I find in near impossible to see anything on my android phone when flying, even in the shade. My screen has a super bright setting but it doesn't help much. Am I alone in this?

You are viewing the video from the micro SD card from aircraft ? If not then try it, you will be pleasantly surprised. I suspect you are looking at the streamed video back to your display device, which is 720p and subject to all the radio interference etc. Also bear in mind that 4k playback needs a relatively modern machine to play back on (better graphics handling).
All the tablets are difficult to see within reason. One of the reasons I bought a iPad pro, but it needs shading in bright sunlight.

You have the over exposure warning set on go to camera setting and turn it off, as for seeing the tablet in sun light get an anti reflective screen protector and a hood to fit your device will make a world of difference

From your desription, you are seeing the shadows from the props. When facing into the sun, the props cast shadows over the lens, and when the frequency of rotation of the props matches the scan rate, horizontal bars appear on the screen. The cure for this is to not face into the sun, or even to tilt down somewhat.

As advised here, you need a hood to go onto your phone so you can see it.
