Hi,

I was on 1.6 and upgraded my P3A directly to 1.8 last night. Just loaded the bin file on my SD card, inserted into P3A and started it up.

Used Go App to update the remote to 1.6

Since you are above RC FW version 1.3.0 the app should prompt you to update automatically. If you do not see this prompt you can always press and hold the academy button for 10 seconds to force the unit to look for the latest update. If you need a refresher on how to update the RC firmware here is a link to the upgrade process:

When I connected the Go App on my phone to the RC it came up with an alert asking me to upgrade the RC. I just clicked on the "upgrade firmware" on my phone while connected to the RC and it updated it for me.

Just go straight to 1.8. Download the 1.8 firmware here  http://www.dji.com/product/phantom-3-pro/info#downloads

And follow the instructions to update your RC to 1.6 from the app. make sure you have a WiFi connection.
