Be patient.  Nothing is happening in a hurry.
Some have suggested timeframes but I suspect they are all guessing.
The FAA has given no clues as to when they might get around to bringing in the new system
Here's some new information:  http://uavcoach.com/drone-certification/

Aloha labroides,

Mahalo for picking up on this.  I was wondering where I had read about this effort.

"The FAA is expected to finalize a new regulatory framework for small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) in late spring / June 2016. Titled Part 107, these new regulations will effectively create a new drone certification process, where for the majority of low-risk, commercial sUAS flight operations, the Section 333 Exemption will no longer be required by commercial drone operators."

However, the Phantoms are in the micro drone class <4.4 lbs. (not the small class >4.4 lbs - 55 lbs).  Anything you have found to deal with the micro drone commercial certification in June?

Weird how we have to go out-of-country to get information some times!  Glad to see you are on it!

Aloha cjay,

Good you are on it.  Do you want the Part 107 Regulations?  See Attached.  The 607 pages of discussion are also available but too big to attach.  You can have the link.

On or about the 29th of August, 2016 the FAA will release the training and testing required to comply with part 107.
Until then, you can find sample training and test preparation online at the FAAST (FAA Safety Team) website.
It's FREE!
