Aerial 360 of Glenesk Maltings/river North Esk, Hillside Scotland (click on image to get interactive 360)
Dispelling the impression I may have previously given about having blue skies and sun all the time in Scotland

Thank you! I had to get a flight in before the weather turns poor - I might have a week of gloom ahead if the forecast is to be believed.

It's been gloomy and wet here, everyday! It's like the sky here knows when ever I'm taking my bird out of her cage. Been acting like the government.

Thank you Aardvark! I spend too much time looking at Google Earth eyeing up potential locations

Haha 360 video... I'd be a nervous wreck thinking what could happen to a 6 camera GoPro rig on a drone! The drone would always be in the shot though
Incidentally, the black pixel at the very centre of the sky (zenith) looking up is my drone in this pano!

I know how you feel - when I got into astronomy, it seemed like nights with clear skies were few and far between. Then I got into 360 degree photography and realised days with clear skies were just as rare. Now with a drone, I have the added observation that sunny days are often accompanied with wind

Thanks Rodger. I think there are better scenes in the competition than I have the luxury of photographing!

Never can tell my friend. Take more. How did you get your Photo to open like that? Are you using a MAC? I think you may be able to do that with a Keynote Transition?

Thank you for the encouragement Rodger! The pic opening animation is a little trick the Skypixel pano viewer (called krpano) does before showing the panorama. It's actually transitioning  from "little planet" view to the standard pano view when the pic opens.

I'm using a PC but Mac looks more attractive all the time.

Thanks for the reply. You are way ahead of me and that is a good thing. MAC's are the greatest. I left the PC world 10 years ago after a Virus that destroyed an expensive Lenovo. Been using Macs a\ever since with no issues at all. Great Company

When I saw the new Mac with the 5K screen, I was so very tempted. A problem I have is that I need a beefy machine for some of the things I'm doing but the Mac Pro machines don't go above 12 processor cores (I'm using a dual Xeon 24 core machine at the moment).

With the way Windows 10 is going, I find myself thinking seriously about a Mac!

Lol - thank you

I'm surprised at the results the P4 is giving for a wide angle 12Mpix camera. I can't help wonder what an Inspire with the X5 would produce. Although it's only 16Mpix, the option to fit a longer lens would allow for some really detailed panos!

I always buy the fastest with as much memory as I can get. I have never had a problem although, I doubt that my use is pushing the limits. I changed years ago due to all of the problems I was experiencing. I have never looked back. I can't imagine ever going bak to a PC. The other thing with Apple is the great support. You can actually speak to a human who will stick with you no matter how long it takes to square away your problem even if it is someone else's problem. Great stuff.

I find Apple's support fantastic too. I do most of my internet browsing by iPad as the Internet is really too dangerous a place to drive a vital workstation around. On the few occasions I've had hardware failure on an iPad or iPhone, the service was great.

Great stuff. I have a lot of Apple products and I have only had two issues which amount to nothing compared to the amount of devices that I have. I bought the 9.7" iPad Pro when it came out and it turned on once and then it wouldn't come on the second time. They replaced it with a new one immediately no questions asked. When my iMac 27" was 2 years old and been running every day for that amount of time a small line of Pixels went bad. I had Apple Care and they replaced the computer with a new one. I had Apple Care that was $139.00 for 3 years 100% coverage. They replaced the Mac with a new one instead of repairing it.

That's great service indeed! I'd love to have Mac with a 5K display after taking in some of my imagery to a Mac store and viewing it on a machine. The detail was breathtaking. That was a couple years ago but it left a lasting impression!

At this point the display is the same 5K that you used. Yes, the display is awesome. I have a few of the Retina Devices and they are very sharp and bright. I also have the iPad Pro 9.7 and that has the new Retina Display that adjust the color to the lighting that you are in and  stereo speakers at each end for a total of four speakers.

Definitely worthwhile trying - I've been viewing mine on the iPhone Streetview app using Google cardboard glasses. If you'd like a link to all my google maps VR stuff - let me know and I'll post it. (I'm standing in the middle of nowhere shooting another pano at the mo - maybe another one to post this evening!)
Looking straight down in VR is quite unnerving - like dangling from a parachute
