I received my controller back from repair this week and when I started the unit  it worked until it said update required and would not function till I did the update now nothing works  and I tried it on all 3 of my android devices and the same on all of them nothing

I  have been trying everything on the forums to get my phantom 3p to fly since the firmware upgrade, there were no issues with range on the quarry's that I video on for the last 2.5 yrs but now I get no or weak video intermittently at anywhere from 4 to 499 m which ain't good when trying to do continuous video etc, so with heavy heart I will be purchasing the typhoon h today, very sad but finding these upgrades problematic with work. Any advise on whether typhoon has issues.

Not sure about the actual quality of Typhoon drone, but the customer service seemed problematic, maybe on the 2014 levels of DJI (DJI has improved a lot since then).


If your DJI plane can't fly due to firmware issue, simply do a free exchange with DJI and it takes less than two weeks.

Well, I went ahead and tried updating the controller firmware first but it failed with the message "Failed to upgrade. Current version: 1.6.0 Upgrade version 1.6.0"
I'm guessing I need to upgrade the bird first?

Nevermind, either I'm stupid or the manual is stupid. It looks like the latest controller version is 1.6.0

NEED HELP!
I got some problems.
After I updated my RC to 1.6.0 and aircraft to 1.8.8.0,  I can't operate my drone more than 30 meters away, cant go further. And always got lost signal after that. How can I fix that ?

Note: I'm using dji phantom 3 pro

Just updated my P3A with 2 batteries and I now get a new message on iPad and I can NOT confirm either option nor will the screen message go away after rebooting the app. The "confirm" block will not result in the message accepting my checked indicator. Now what????

why is it such a ball ache for firm ware updates on these?
I'm using  a mac book pro, download the firmware, tried opening it, only another smaller bin file comes out. Tried with this new smaller file, as well as original larger bin, neither update. I get a few green blinks to start, then just stays solid green and does nothing.

tried with  a larger card, and seems to now be updating.

I have aP3advanced, and have updated it previously.  I have updated the RC, and the app.  I am trying to upload the new firmware to the aircraft, and have tried multiple times.  I have been in contact with DJI support, and chat, and I keep getting the same instructions.  I know what to do, but the green light on the front of the gimbal stays solid green.  The beeps don't change either, but the gimbal does go limp.  
I use the DJI website for the firmware download; extract the zip file, load the .bin file onto a formatted SD card, insert it into the aircraft;  start the aircraft with the .bin file in it, but it doesn't upgrade.  I have tried 3 separate SD cards, all formatted.  I have plugged the aircraft into the computer using the micro USB cord, and loaded the .bin file that way.
All to no avail, it does not update.  It shows the aircraft as needing the new firmware too.

What am I doing wrong?  Do I need to send it back for factory support?

Why do the firmware updates seem to cause so much trouble?  This is pretty frustrating, especially since the new part 107 rules take effect august 29, and I need the phantom to be ready to open my business.
Can you help?  What am I missing?

It seems to get worse.  Now when I check aircraft status on the app, when Im connected to the aircraft, it gives me the red triangle, saying i need an update, but it won't let me advance to the next page to show me exactly what firmware update i need?  its like the app is locked up as well.  What am i missing, again?

Since the gimbal is going limp there's maybe an issue.
Can you post the hidden log file after a firmware attempt and I can see what's going on.
Also a screenshot of the Aircraft Status and About page.

I went to the DJI web site where I have downloaded all of my updates under the P3A area of the website and there is not a place to download the zip file like there is on the P3P area. Why is it not listed where I have always downloaded them

I have had enough with firmware upgrades, my phantom 3 pro looses video feed every couple of minutes now since firmware update at various distances and since I mostly do video it's no good, I have been flying the same sites in my job with no range issues for the past couple of years but now p3p is a brick so have bought myself a typhoon h and no issues with range at all on same sites
, lucky for me my inspire still flys beautifully because didn't do last couple of upgrades so I have one foot in each camp, love the inspire and used to love the pro but alas it has been retired and replaced with yuneec
typhoon pro ,come on DJI  I used to like your birds but if I can't use them it's time for a change

I thought I was the only person with the range issue on my P3 till I read multiple people with same issue!
Since the last firmware update 1.9.6 my range is very bad, only about 500meters and I lose video feed, it comes up on my screen with message that the signal is lost or to that effect, I have tried on 2 different devices. On one occasion my P3P came back to me via return to home and only returned signal when it was almost above me! I don't feel very safe with flying it because of this issue now. What needs to be done to resolve this.. how can I downgrade this bad firmware update? previous to this I was flying without any problems very far distances. I think its pretty obvious if multiple people are bringing up this problem there is a firmware issue not a hardware issue with the drone.. is DJI saying there was a bad batch? all I have done is a firmware update, since which these problems now occur.

The best thing to do is the reinstall Firmware v1.8.80 until DJI releases a new version to resolve this.
I don't know why they're not tell people to hold off on updating because this firmware update is causing to many problems.

Thanks jacmac64. Is it just a case of loading the v1.8.8 firmare on sd card and putting in p3 then turn p3 on for it to downgrade.  Same process as an upgrade?  Does anything need to be done with controller firmare.
My assumption is that there will be no fix for this issue in future firmare upgrades as DJI havent acknowledged this is a problem with firmare but hardware.  Ridiculous

It's exactly the same, just put previous firmware on you sd card and it will install. This made my video transmission better but it's not 100% what it was before I installed the new release.
Now i don't even want to fly.

The latest RC firmware version is 1.6.0. If your RC has bee updated to this version, you don't need to upgrade it again.

When your mobile device is connecting to your RC (power on), you can enter the camera view and touch the icon on the right top.The firmware version is under General Settings——About.

If it was me, I would either leave firmware as is from box. Or upgrade controller to latest version and put v1.8.8 on P3. I did a test this morning after downgrading to this firmware and from what I can tell it has resolved my disconnection issues.. but DJI may recommend to upgrade to latest v1.9 version as they advise there is no problem with latest firmware.. its a hardware issue

I've updated my P3P and I've noticed that filming in 2.7K gives a very soft image, all detail is smoothed out, other modes (1080, 3,8K and 4K) have plenty of detail.  
What is going on with noise reduction? Also, the dark areas of videos shot in 3.8K have a slight red tint that is absent from all other video definitions. This is so weird.
