The latest RC firmware version is 1.6.0. If your RC has bee updated to this version, you don't need to upgrade it again.

Thanks Paladin, How do I confirm that my RC has 1.6.0?  
Also can you tell me does DJI have any plans of resolving this issue or has it not been recognized as a firmware issue?

When your mobile device is connecting to your RC (power on), you can enter the camera view and touch the icon on the right top.The firmware version is under General Settings——About.

Just bought a P3A - (waiting for it to arrive) - should I update any of the firmware if it is required?  I just bricked my P2 so I am a little leery about doing any firmware updates.

If it was me, I would either leave firmware as is from box. Or upgrade controller to latest version and put v1.8.8 on P3. I did a test this morning after downgrading to this firmware and from what I can tell it has resolved my disconnection issues.. but DJI may recommend to upgrade to latest v1.9 version as they advise there is no problem with latest firmware.. its a hardware issue

Last dji go update is horrible! Lag on video back two seconds. Litchi otherwise have to use'm grounded. If the problems do not rule quickly because it lasted too long see myself obliged to part with my P3A could a Yuneec

I've updated my P3P and I've noticed that filming in 2.7K gives a very soft image, all detail is smoothed out, other modes (1080, 3,8K and 4K) have plenty of detail.  
What is going on with noise reduction? Also, the dark areas of videos shot in 3.8K have a slight red tint that is absent from all other video definitions. This is so weird.

There is a hardware error in the image transmission module and it is recommended to send it in for repairing. Here is the contact information:

I think it is mandatory more than a raccomandation. Now I can't fly it.
The problem is that the product is two months old only and repairing service is needed without any crash or strange use. Anyway I hope at least it will be a warranty repair. Ciao

I have a serious problem. when I update Dji app and firmware to the latest (1.9.60) everything is ok. but just when I press Record button on RC I have delay on my tablet!
who know how can I solve this?

can I "downgrade" firmware to 1.3.20? is it possible?  I had real live view -no delay-

I haven't updated my firmware since 1.5 which I am currently still using. If I want to update, do I have to go in order of updates or can I just go directly to the most recent update?

Ive been happy. I know that don't fix others concerns.  But i to experience video feedback problem at times, my complaint.  Remember there is a sequence to start up.  Remote, no tab or phone plugged in, than craft, than,  than plug, or turn on dji... hope it helps

I made it only 3300 ft. Not quite what it says it will do, but my video is what started cutting out, rc signal good. So i do hope they fix with a new update.. but i am happy.  3300 ft was out there!

Im with you on this, stuck at 1.4.6., when they upgraded the camera, and the 'fly around' section, with no having to 'log in and request permission to fly' bullshit.
So im never gonna upgrade, and when this thing eventually crashes, I wont buy DJI, I'll get something else that doesnt have the 'request to fly' built in.

The geofence was more than enough restriction. DJI have just made their product less desirable to me.

I am testing my Phantom 3 Pro on a tablet android 4.4, with version 2.8.2 . Are giving total loss of signal.{:4_142:}

So a very serious question here.  It has been noted in quite a number of posts of the image transmission module in the gimbal going bad after a fw upgrade.  Donnie has highly recommended the procedure of making sure the RC if powered OFF when updating the aircraft, but here is the question..  T-Rex was fine he indicated before applying 1.9.. What is it that can cause that Image Transmission Module to be so sensitive to failure during fw upgrades, and what is the absolute best way to avoid it??  This is not the first time we've heard this issue..  :-(

I updated to the new firmware right after the release, and have had nothing but problems. On one occasion, my drone decided to land in a very bad spot. Fortunately I was able to chase it down and override the landing such that it was a controlled landing in a better spot. The biggest problem for me is the "iffy" reception quality. Sometimes it is fine out to 2000' or more, sometimes 200' I lose communication. Very uncool...

Agreed, I'm sure, compared to the number of successful upgrades, but there is seemingly a correlation associated to these Video Transmission Modules and Firmware Upgrades.  Personally, I follow the advice of upgrading aircraft first (via micro SD) with RC powered off, then do RC upgrades with Aircraft off, then any battery updates...  That said, I'm still on 1.8.80 and 2.8.1 and flying without issue.  Waiting till GEO settles out a bit before moving..  I guess what I'm asking is if DJI sees these occasions as a chance to make sure the upgrade sequence is readily known and hopefullly followed, but also if they have uncovered a "reason" why on certain occasions having the RC on while upgrading the aircraft seems to go after that module.  Again, we've seen it referenced in these forums a fair number of times, so there is some connection.. (it would seem).

I'm on 1.8.80 with DJI Go on 2.8.4 with no issues. Distance has been great with perfect video download transmission. There is no reason to upgrade to the latest firmware if your bird is working unless the firmware offers significant feature improvements.

All these video transmission issues after this latest firmware update and they still won't admit that there's a problem with it.
Their answer is sending it in for repair. How about removing it and fixing the problem with the firmware?

I contacted  the dji support and sent the drone in. So far the service is good and they are also covering the shipping cost. We will see how long the repairing process will take.

Then, I would like to understand more about this video transmission module hw, the video was slow and unstable before I discovered this error. The upgrade to 1.9.60 went smooth no error at all; the error come up when I tried to downgrade to the previous version trying to solve the video problems. To me it looks like the 1.9.60 could have damaged the hw but the system realize that only in the next firmware update?

You may have seen my reply earlier.  Did you happen to have the RC powered ON when doing the firmware upgrade?  It is something that has been pointed out in the past as a possible cause of Video Transmission Modules going bad..  Just curious...

No I am sure I followed the procedure: formatted sd card, just bin file on it and then power on only the aircraft. I am a newbie but I did already 2 upgrade successfully but the last one caused some video problems (lag and unstable), when I tried to go back to previous firmware (with RC off) the error showed up. In any case if there is the suspect that can be one possible cause of the damage, I think Dji should introduce something that inhibit the upgrade process when RC signal is detected.

firmware update failed and module 15 not detected in the upgrade log file. The drone seems fine but huge video lag and video transmission unstable exactly the same as before I tried to go back to few 1.8.80 from 1.9.60.

So it's not really problem fixed then?

May be you forgot the bin file in the sad card.
