The High Island Reservoir was actually built by an Italian contractor Vianini Lavori S.P.A. Roma in the 1970s in respond to mainland China's shutting down water supply to HK during the 1967 riots.

The Building of High Island Reservoir

I was a teenager who was touch by the magnificent dolosse blocks each weighs more than 25 tonnes when visiting the place in 1980 with the then classmates. And there are more than 7,000 pieces of hugh dolosses there!



In memory of those who shared that precious moment back then but are now departed to far far away in the world to make a living!

And in memory of those who gave their lives when creating the reservoirs' magnificence.
