That is very strange, I haven't heard of your issue yet. I would think that you are not using a DJI recommended device but you are so that's not the issue.
By tapping the video camera icon and you lose video and it reverts back to photo and it's fine is strange.
You are saying that you are doing this from the app and not the video button on the RC correct. for that it sounds like a app issue and if you can delete the app and reinstall and see if it does the same.
If it's both the app and the RC button then it's a bigger issue and if it happened only after a firmware update then it's a slight chance it could be your video transmission module.
Can you reattempt the firmware version and after that post the hidden log file so i can see each module to see if it's a hardware issue.

Yes you can downgrade, you do it the same way as you upgraded. BUT, I don't think that is the issue.
Download the 1.8 firmware and then post the hidden log file.

it wont downgrade that way, the text file says abort same or newer firmware installed

Post the TXT and hidden log file.
