I have phantom 3 advanced and I fly usually in P mode. I read about ATTI mode but not to much. Can somebody please tell me is ATTI mode is better by  P GPS mode and have I bigger control in ATTI MODE or less control in ATTI MODE. Have some recomended for me when and where that I use ATTI MODE?

And one more think . When I use ATTI MODE how far and how high I can fly? Have I some max. distance in ATTI MODE. Thank a lot

Paladin, we are having a discussion on another thread - about P3, does p3 (or p4 for that matter) use compass in ATTI mode? Is an issue with compass in any way of impact in ATTI mode and why?
I never experience a compass failure, but.. if I ever do, it may be wise to know EXACTLY what the impact is.
I assume if compass has an issue, RTH in p-gp or in ATTI would be unwise, correct?
Thx!

If you have a compass error in P-GPS mode, your P3 will automatically switch to ATTI mode & you can fly normally (non-GPS).

Nope, other than the radar/map direction in the Go app.

The aircraft compass may have a bearing when flying in ATTI mode - it keeps the heading by correcting for changes in yaw due to wind.

In ATTI mode the GPS is INOP but the compass is still fully working to keep orientation of the aircraft heading.

DJI-Ken, do you mean to aid the pilot, or the aircraft actually uses the compass to keep heading? What i am concerned about is in a case of compass malfunction, magnetic field being affected. Will the drone still misbehave in ATTI mode or am I all happy flying in ATTI mode? I think i would lean towards the guys above - no autopilot uses the compass, but if that is wrong, then compass issues put the aircraft in danger, even in ATTI mode...

Correct, the compass is working all the time regardless of what mode the aircraft is in.
If you put it in ATTI mode and hover and spin the aircraft around with your hand when you let go it will spin back to it's original heading it was before moved it.

So, if flying in a heavy metal interference area you will still have aircraft compass issues.

Thx.. that is not quite what I hoped for, but then again, if this iss how you guys did it, I am sure there's a reason for that design!

I have asked about enable/disable switch for the P4, only time will tell if they will implement it or not. For now I think not.

That doesn't make sense though.  If the compass has an error, it switches to ATI mode.  Then you can fly normally even with a compass error.  Are you sure it's not a gyro that holds the aircraft's orientation?  I've flown quadcopter without a compass & they don't have problems with orientation & will resist rotation in the same way.
