Hello my friends.
Just arrived from my holidays in Canary islands- Tenerife.
My drone Phantom 3 Professional has been stolen with spare props and batteries, from rental car while i was wisiting water park. I lefted my car in secured car park under security cameras+ there was security guard, who didn`t see anything.  My drone was not insured, and car insurance covers only car damages.
Just want to know what i should do next?
Is it any chance to track it?
I checked also my DJI app but no flights are recorded after that date.  
I have all original serial numbers + box.
Any suggestions?

My P3P insurance is cheap! $60 per year and it covers ANYTHING! with no deductible. When you buy a new phantom buy some insurance to go with it.

Sorry for your loss, rushons91. Unfortunately it is impossible to track the drone via DJI GO app or RC. I think it would be better to find the police or use the surveillance video to get some clue.

In uk there is no company who offer to insure drone.

rushons91, my question would be .....(for the benefit of others)

How did they know you had a Phantom in the car?    Was it in plain view?
Were you flying it and then put it back inthe car?   If so, someone waited for that opportunity.
Did the "security guard" seem willfully helpful, or indifferent?

Usually, car theives won't break into EVERY car in sight....they walk around trying to look like they're just passing through etc when in fact they are eyeballing for a car to see what's inside.
Chances are if they SAW your phantom or even a valuable looking black case....that prompted the theft.
Otherwise, if you flew it and then placed it in the car, someone who saw you flying it decided right then and there they would try to get it.

Sucks the world is full of people who do this.  Sorry for your loss.

Contact the local police and provide the information such as serial etc.  Pawns shops might have as many time things that are stolen are quickly pawned off and if you find it at a pawn shop, and can prove it was stolen you should be able to get it back.

Only problem is he was in the Canary Islands and said he just arrived from his holiday.

I take that to mean he was on vacation there and is back in his country so that would make the process next ti impossible at this point.

Good point.  I do not know if the local law out there would be able to help or not with being on vacation and not there now.

If you have homeowener's or renter's insurance, it's probably covered (after deductible)

Is it possible that because he filed a claim, his rates would then change such that the new payment eentually FAR exceeds the value of the Phantom?

I would think not, it's not like car ins. were most will increase your rates, (some don't). But that said, best to check before making a claim, anything is possible.

usual car insurance abroad is dwc colission damage waiver cover and rarely covers effects inside the car like cameras and other expensive electrical insurance

was your drone bag covered or was it in plain sight ?

sorry to hear about your loss buddy and i would definatly ask the local police to check the survailance tapes as you where in a secure car park relating to the water park?

Nobody didn't see my aircraft at all, because i didn't fly it anywhere around there. I was traveling about 80 KM from hotel to water park. I paid for parking packed my bags and put my phantom bag in booth (trunk). Probably someone see that i put that bag in booth and think it could be some valuable things in it. I think that person expected something different(camera, laptop, phone ect.) than drone.
The saddest thing is that dji do not offer stolen drone tracking or mapping, only what i can do is block my aircraft if police will not find it.
It was a BD gift. Thanks for that, it was 1300 pounds lesson.
Probably not going to have any drone while tracking service will not going to be available.

yes it was in the trunk covered, but there is possibility that someone see me when i put it in.
i will ask my Spanish friend to give them a call, otherwise they do not want to speak in English.

that price sounds way too good to be true, is that private or commercial?, what cover do you get with that, I am in Australia and the cheapest that I could find was AU$1079.00 per year an the only way I could insure it was to have my commercial drone pilots licence witch I just got last week and that was 6 days and AU$4000.00

I have mine through State Farm.  $30.00 per year and covers loss, crash, theft pretty much everything with no deductible.

Did they take your smart device and if they did was it an Apple product?

It doesn't surprise me they don't have a tracking service, it would cost too much to be justified to offer as a free service. And most won't pay for the service if offered, making the cost even higher. The GPS in a Phantom is oneway, to receive its location for your app, not report it back to DJI somehow. But I know how you feel, it sucks when your trip is stained like that. And your memories of your vacation are dampened.

If you were out of the country and rented a car with an AMEX card or other credit card...sometimes you can file a loss claim with them.
If you purchased insurance when you rented the car you may have had theft insurance and didnt know it.  READ the fine print.
Long shot but it has worked for others.
But I think you would have HAD to file a Police Report

State Farm. My autos and house are are insured with another company. My P3P is personal property and state farm in NC will insure personal property $5000 or less for $60 per year.

State Farm in NC (where I live) Your phantom is personal property and it can be insured, just like jewelry, golf clubs, ...etc. In NC with State Farm you can insure $5000 worth of personal property for $60 per year. Yes...State Farm does realize it is a drone...they took pictures of it and all the accessories that go with it. There is no deductible for personal property and it covers anything that happens to it and its accessories.

Thanks for info, but probably not going to buy another in closest future.

I do not have AMEX,
I spoke with rental car company and they said that insurance policy covers only car damage or accident loss, but nothing like personal belonging cover.
