I love video such as this, but since you thought were were good to fly there - flying over people, flying after sunset (at the end), flying at or near the heliports along the river (assumed), maybe more but I don't know the area well enough.  If I'm wrong, so be it.  I still like the video though.

I read on the net that,

"NY" and "Long Island" have applied for a name change to:

"Restricted" and "Restricted Island"

I live in NYC and NEVER tried to fly in the city.

Once I saw 2 guys flying 2 small drones in Central Park. Tthey were having fun until 2 cops showed up...

It's ok to fly here as long as you comply with your registration requirements and notify the eleven heliports in the area. The waterways on either side of Manhattan are busy with helicopter traffic. In fact at 1:36 in the video, the aircraft is approaching the busy Main Downtown Heliport with a dozen aircraft parking spots and the heliport at the end of the pier. The B4UFLY app is available for both the Android and iOS devices

B4UFLY

B4UFLY
   Heliports.png

To identify the number to call, the FAA app B4UFLY tells you the airport/heliport designator.
For example, the Downtown Manhattan/Wall Street Heliport is JRB.

Next, you browse to https://nfdc.faa.gov/xwiki/bin/view/NFDC/Airport+Data and enter JRB as the ID:

NFDC

NFDC

The FAA site will show you the Airport information.
Click on the CONTACT info and call the MANAGER.

Check to see what operations they are expecting and tell them where you will be flying and

You'll be good to go and always FLY SAFE!!!

Getting through to all those places is probably next to impossible, let alone getting them all to approve a drone flight in that area.   Mission Impossible.
Maybe that's why there are so few videos of the area and why this one is so intersting to watch?
Also, remember that posting a video online has been construed by the FAA to be a Commerical operation I do believe.

LOVED the video BTW

Thanks for the feedback guys. I do appreciate everyones input and concern about safe flying. I do take it all into consideration, and will definitely be more careful and caution next time I decide to fly in the city.

I know some of the flying I was doing may be deemed illegal, but if you guys check out my Instagram you'll understand, @lightsensitivity (which is all done with a dslr)
