Yes, buying the P4 also causes other expenses as a new computer that will handle the 4k
But you can always just shoot in 1080 and your computer may be fine with that.

If you want to edit the 4K video, I think you may need the latest Core i7 processor.

And a nice graphics card (NVIDIA) to allow GPU assisted rendering & real time edits.

In my opinion, 4K isn't industry standard yet. I shoot in 1080p 60FPS because I know that most people's tablets, tvs, pcs, phones etc can only view up to 1080P. Bare in mind as well that other factors include internet speed in order to stream this kind of resolution once uploaded to youtube. Many people don't have the download to deal with 4K, (which is 4 times the resolution of 1080p). Then you've got to think that along with that most devices can't even play 4K without stuttering!

4k will have its day, but not yet - yes maybe shoot for your own enjoyment, yes maybe for fun, but you'll find it hard to edit and render, probably difficult to play back too! Enjoy

Happy flying!

4k rendered to 1080 gives better colour, gives more options for cropping, and it future proves your video. I agree that at present most is still presented in 1080. But this is the year of the 4k TV so it's not far away.

The trick is to work with proxy media (google it) and then use any computer for rendering. 4K screen is another story
Best bang for the buck is probably an iMac 5K, pay for the screen, get the computer free

4K is not hard to playback, edit or render. I have a 3 year old laptop with an i5 1.8GHz which plays 4K videos from the Phantom perfectly with only 6% CPU utilization.

To me, there is no best frame rate, record in all of them and choose what you like the best.
